Toyota Volta
Why does Toyota torment me like this? They build the coolest, most beautiful concept car on the planet and then refuse to manufacture it. Someone should be shot!

Seriously, I’d take the very first one of these to roll off an assembly line if they would just build it. And I MEAN that. Jim Press (President of Toyota North America), I’ll have your check waiting the moment you hand me the keys!

This car is a three seater, with the seats all on one row. The concept is that the controls can be moved to any of the three positions, so anyone can drive. (Though I’d always drive from the center seat.)

Here is what Toyota has to say about this baby:

The Giugiaro-designed carbon-fiber body seats three people abreast and features “drive-by-wire” controls, allowing you to position the steering wheel and pedals in front of any one of them. And the Volta’s 408-hp Hybrid Synergy Drive® (a 3.3-liter V6 with an electric motor for each axle) not only delivers 435 miles on a 13.7-gallon tank, but 0-60 acceleration in a mere four seconds.

I mean come on. Honda has their NSX, but Toyota’s got nuthin! This is exactly what they need to bring to market to make a huge splash.

EDIT: (12-3-2006) Since Toyota can’t seem to find their way to build this car, I had to get an NSX. :-) Jim, I told you I was serious!
