If you use the timer it has the same effect. Personally though I like to take several photos of the same thing and it gets annoying to me to have to wait and wait for the timer. I am also 300d user and love my hacked SLR :) Just a quicky. You said for Remote Switch, that is the second best accessory ever for this camera. This is a must have for tripod users.
