PearlsJ.P. Morgan was interested in buying a pearl pin. The jeweler he approached found the perfect pin and sent it in a box to Morgan with a bill for $5,000.

The following day the box was returned wirh a note from Morgan:

I like the pin, but I don’t like the price. If you will accept the enclosed check for $4,000, please send back the box which is sealed with the seal unbroken.”

The jeweler was quite displeased and immediately returned the check. When he later opened the box to get the pin he found a check from Morgan for $5,000.

This probably explains how JP Morgan came to be one of the richest and most powerful men ever to live. The only problem with this tactic is that you can only use it once…
