Late reply to Noel Campbell regarding the Glid of Gloode. This was actually not a python sketch. It was performed on "Not Only, But Also" by Peter Cooke (as the Glid) and Dudley Moore (as the jester who tricks him).

It's not a Python sketch. Bill Murray did a pseudo war documentary sketch on SNL about the Walker Brigade as Richard Burton. It was a story about an idiotic WWII plan to train geezers with walkers and have them march toward Nazi lines in the hope that the Nazis' spirit of fair play would prevail over their training to machine gun the enemy. The whole thing worked out badly for the Walker Brigade. No survivors. No one ever tried it again.

My favourite is the dirty fork sketch. I love the over the top reactions from them especially John Cleese. Its the same type of comedy which made Fawlty Towers so funny too.

Does anyone know the name of the sketch where an old guy (mayor or something) is opening a new hospital wing or similar. He's wheeled out on a mobile lecturn but he can't think of anything to say except "um" and "ah" repeatedly?
Cheers.

These are great, thanks for the list :P. Many of the links are broken now, though, and a few of them are repeats, so I don't think there ever really were 150 XD.

Thankyou for this. I just love the Spanish Inquisition one of course but there is so much here I have never seen or possibly forgotten about, (Once you get past 40 the mind starts to go)
Living in Spain most people don't get the Nudge Nudge Wink Wink references!

Our wee dog was chewing on yet another bit of wood.
Naturally I started reciting the glid of gloode to my goode wife.
Didn't get past the calmly standing bit.(ho hum).
This may have been caused from the whole excessive age/alcohol thing.
In any event I would like somebody else to verify that such a skit existed and possibly supply the text.
Not to retrieve any dignity (long gone) just for personal interest.
P.S.Wasn't game to download any of the sketches (very limited limit thingy) but did have some seriously funny flashbacks browsing through them Noel

You really do have a huge variety of topics on this blog! One minute I'm reading about Woopra and the next I find this GOLD MINE of Monty Python links! This is definitely in my favorites! I could watch The Holy Grail - Bloody Peasants! sketch a thousand times. You inspired me to pull that movie out of my collection for this weekend.
