InfomercialRatings.comMan, those guys in the infomercials could sell the proverbial ketchup popsicle to a woman in white gloves! But the real question is, did she enjoy it after she got it?

Well, InfomercialRatings.com is here to answer that question. Now, you’ve got to use some common sense when evaluating the ratings here and really read through them.

I found that many of the “reviews” seemed so positive and professionally written that they could only have come from the marketing departments of the product manufacturers themselves. The main weakness of their system lies in the fact that there are no user login and ratings functions, like for example eBay or IMDB.

Since visitors to the site don’t have access to comment author’s reputation levels, and have no way to rate any particular answer’s quality, there is no way to really know who to trust.

Now, if they wanted to really improve their site they could do the following things to instill more loyalty and trust in their reviews:

  1. Force commenters to create a verifiable user ID prior to posting.
  2. Display a link to a reviewers profile along with the number of reviews posted and a percentage of users who found their comments helpful whenever anyone is viewing their comments. For example: The Man – 28 Reviews / 89% Positive Feedback.
  3. Allow logged in readers to rate each comment as either “Useful” or “Not Useful”

Anyway, the site can still be useful in it’s current format, but remember to be skeptical of what you read.
