No Ping Wait WordPress Plugin

by John P.

The useful No Ping Wait WordPress plugin was created by by Robert Deaton, but due to an apparent hardware failure he lost his entire site.

The purpose of the No Ping Wait plugin is to prevent WordPress authors from having to wait for all of the update services to respond to new post pings. You may have noticed that when you actually “publish” a post there can be a delay as long as a minute or more. This plugin solves that problem by moving generic pings to execute-pings.php.

I highly recommend this plugin and you can download it here.

Thanks for the plugin, your blog seems to be the only place I can find to download it (after Robert Deaton’s hardware failure).

Agamum,

Thanks for that tip. I haven’t upgraded to 2.1 yet, but when I do I’ll take a look at possibly updating the plugin.

When I have installed the pluggin, I can’t seem to find where I type in the ping services in Wordpress. Any hints? Thanks…

It seems the plugin cannot be used for WP v2.3+ since WP v2.3+ doesn’t have “execute-pings.php” file

One moment, this is interesting. To the matter of fact, I did not observe the wait in publishing posts which now I am feeling like was true.

I will try this plugin John, along with one more you have created. (I remember reading about that post yesterday)

Hi,

I’d love to use this plugin but I have one simple concern. Does the plugin require execute-pings.php to be installed in the wp-admin folder before it can work? Thanks!
