That's correct Mark. The advantage of using the PlasmaCam is that once the design is digitized it can cut out an infinite supply of identical parts. So you save that labor at least, although you still have the assembly, finish and paint/powdercoat left to do.

Cheers,

Good stuff and very inteesting.

Presumably making a second or third copy is significantly faster because the design and setup is complete.

Beautiful work. Love the backgrounds, too. We have been using a Plasma Cam to cut
Lettering and details for our signs for the last three years. You really show the potential
of artistic design in metals. Dave Harwood Owner, All Signs & Letters, LLC Asheville, NC

How much do you charge for these works of art? I think a nice metallic red, white, & blue one with an American flag would look great in my office. But, based on greg's comment above it seems that it may take over 2 years to create one? I'm asuming this is much more of a hobby than a full time job. Beautiful hobby, hope you find a way to increase your speed of production :-)

Thanks a lot for doing a metal sculpture tutorial. I can get a lot of the materials at work, because I work in a manufacturing plant. We have a lot of different grades and sizes of stainless and brushed steel, which would be nice, as long as my boss lets me take some. I could cut it out on the laser, and have someone weld it for me.

Yeah...you are now almost 2 years late. But at least I can take pleasure in the fact that you had to wait almost a year for me to comment on this article.
