Peter,

I agree that it's a shame the way Scott's site was actually developed. I really like the way it's laid out and broken up into themes, and I don't even mind the music... though you should be able to turn it off and currently I don't see that ability anywhere.

But the fact that it was completely flash based instead of HTML+CSS is a pity. Scott could have had 95% of the current functionality plus a whole lot better search engine results, blogging capability, track-backs, comments, and more.

And yeah... I'd never have guessed it about Carel either but it is really cool to see people branching out in new and unexpected areas.

Carel Struycken the photographer? Who would've thought?

And the Scott Stulberg site would've worked a whole lot better had he forwent the Flash and just used a gallery application. You can jazz those up quit attractively. Plus, background music is so 1995...

Yes, the colors are amazing. I believe he is using a technique called <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging" rel="nofollow">High Definition Range</a> on many of these. Most likely involving tweaking them in Photoshop or some other image editing software. My favorite one is the one about 7 images down on his site of the layers of rice fields on the side of the mountain. Just really beautiful stuff.
