First of all, NO… my blog is not digressing into another porn site! Actually it’s sad, but I really debated about reporting this because nudity is involved. But I decided that it was for the common good and that the vast majority of my readers would probably appreciate the link…
The popular women’s magazine Jane has launched a Breast Health Guide, and a related Boob Blog called Show Us Yours!
The blog encourages regular women to send in a photo of their own breasts and a description about what they like about them. A LOT of women have taken up the challenge and they range from small to very, very large, and also including brave women with mastectomys, the site proves that boobs come in all shapes and sizes and that the most important thing is not what they look like, but that you are loved for who you are.
EDIT 9/14: Sorry but Jane magazine has apparently gone belly up and none of the links here work any more…
There is also an interesting article about a group of 10 women fighting for the right to go topless, on the grounds that it’s the only thing that men are legally allowed to do that Women aren’t. The group’s attorney argues:
“Usually, it’s legal to go top-free in strip clubs and when nursing children—basically, your breasts can be exposed only if they’re in the service of a man or a child,” Mark says. “My clients believe that the government shouldn’t have that sort of say over women’s bodies.”
Now personally, I find it ludicrous that it would actually be illegal for a woman to remove her shirt in any instance where a man can. Granted, I realize that society has in general sexualized women’s breasts - and I’m a normal healthy man who certainly has nothing against them - but let’s face it, men are going to gawk at women they think are sexy with or without their shirt on.
Plus, to take it one step further, there is nothing preventing a woman from wearing a spandex shirt with no bra, which would have the exact same effect as being topless - namely leaving nothing to the imagination.
I’m pretty sure that the vast majority of guys are going to agree overwhelmingly with a woman’s right to “bare all” (except in cases where they feel there is a religious restriction), but what I’m really curious about is how the ladies feel about this matter? I mean, does it bother you that if you and I went walking topless down the same street you would be thrown in jail, while no one would pay attention to me?
I’m not just asking that rhetorically… I know I’ve got a lot of female readers and I’m really genuinely interested in the consensus on this point, because even after decades of marriage I still haven’t figured out how to predict women’s thoughts.

You rock!
I love this post!
I’m from Ontario, Canada. Here a woman fought for her right to go topless back in the 80s, and she won. I remember the grade 10 boys I was teaching at the time thought that was wonderful…until I told them that the law didn’t demand that women go topless, but that it was their choice. “Aww!”
I’ve only ever seen one woman go topless at my local beach (and it wasn’t pretty). I say allow it, but fellas, don’t get your hopes up.
Thanks for that. I needed a break for working for a little breast. Breast-break!
Lol the boob protest made my day.
Why doent this ever hapen near me!
Heh too bad, not a lot of female responses so far. I am a strong proponent of equal rights = equal obligations. This one is a strange one though - my general philosophy on life would ‘demand’ that toplesness be treated the same in both genders, but in reality I have to admit that breasts do have different cultural meanings depending upon gender.
Yeah, I was surprised because I know I have quite a few female readers, so I thought we’d have gotten some good feedback. But perhaps it was only the men who like boobs that read the article.

Just wanted to point out that the links in your posts that are supposed to go to janemag.com no longer land where intended. Instead they are redirected to glamour.com
Ajeet Khurana
Thanks for the heads up Ajeet. I removed the links because I just can’t find the information anywhere.
Why would they be so stupid as to take down content from the web? That is just idiotic! They could have left it up there and it would have generated ad revenue for them at a very minimum.
Oh well.
John
I say let them be free. There are some that, in people opinion, are not what we would call eye pleaser’s. There are some guys that I wouldn’t want to see topless either. We need to stop looking at everyone as a sex object, and the whole thing will go away.
