I don't get it. 100 people could set out to take pictures on a particular day of a particular road and all submit them at the same time, who get the $10. So is it whoever gives the best pictures or gets it in at the exact right moment.

Also you would have to have Internet access on the go and as you see a business name, check the database and if its available quickly take the picture and complete the process.

For Google its a win, win.

I would say it would be more beneficial to submit random pictures to a photo site like Istockphoto.

For some it has to be an excellent little bonus though. Some of the younger generation especially.

ok, $10 a pic sounds like easy street if all you have to do is snap the pics!

i have to agree that between taking the pics and getting the businesses to verify and sign up, the time spent versus the money to be earned may not equal out.

I have a ton of digital photos that I have taken, none of them are businesses. Wonder if Google will consider another avenue of making money with digital pictures in the future! :)

$10 a pop and I am sure walking through a Mall like John said or down a street full of shops taking pictures wont take long.

The hard part is to get the businesses to spend the time signing up and verifying all the photos. Bringing your own laptop and GPRS / 3G phone might help, but I am not sure Google would allow that many signups from the same IP within a short timespan. I know it would raise all sorts of warning flags on the Adsense Account signups, but how they do this I do not know of course :)

If you can do 30-40 shops a day then you would make pretty decent money for sure.

It is certainly an interesting concept, and if it was available here in the Philippines I would have hired staff to run around taking pictures of shops for me :)

Lets say you lived in a small town like Jasper, Alabama. You happen to be pretty technically inclined. So, one day you take your digital camera and your laptop to the mall.

You walk around in the air conditioned comfort of the mall getting photos of 80 shops. You go sit down at the food court and use Picasa to quickly resize all of them and then hop on the T-mobile wireless network and upload them to Google. This will take you maybe 2-3 hours.

After you've done that, you walk around to each of the stores, find the manager and using your laptop help them sign up for a Google account and then verify the photos.

In a case like this, a person could put several hundred dollars in their pocket for one days work. You could probably complete a larger mall with 200 stores in just a couple of days ($1,000-$2,000). Now, that would be fantastic for a high school or college student, or even just as extra spending money for anyone. Plus you are helping those businesses get listed and gain exposure.

This is really a job for someone who doesnt have a job. The concept behind these photos is pretty interesting but a 10$ for spending a day to get photos and visit companies isnt at all enough

I know one thing, Google is coming up with some creative ideas and to be honest, an idea like this is going to be good for them. Downfall: It won't be good for their money (but who cares, Google is rich anyway :D )

It's a real shame this isn't available in the UK.

If they ever decide to open this up to us, I want to be the first to know about it :D

But bare in mind, you wont be paid for duplication. There will be dozens of photography rushing for this. Both money and interest.
