The next in the series of Classic Arcade Game week is Space Invaders. I must admit that I’m not as thrilled with this version as it is not the actual original, but it is the closest that I can find online to the original.
Controls are as follows:
Left arrow – Move left
Right arrow – Move right
Space – Fire laser
P – Pause/unpause game
Q – Quit game

That is pretty good. I like that version of the game (it runs fairly well compared to other games that get put online). Although I did notice that it wasn’t firing too fast. Maybe I’ve gotten used to the new games where machine rapid fire is the norm.
it’s that classic game, and this version is better then many other published. The invaders are not sppeding up like in the original, but still very good. Thanks for putting it up here.
Darn kids – my 14 year old came home from school in the middle of my playing – “Aw, Mom! You suck at that! Hurry – hurry – get that one on the top, you’ll get a power up!”
I said, “What the heck do you know? This is my game! From when I was a kid!”
I was reveling in the moment, with Tom’s wonderful comment lingering in my brain, remembering all those days at the Taco Bueno arcade…and then in walks this stinkin’ teenager and ruins everything!!
I don’t really know if that person who I’m posting right after me is really “Derek Wong” or not. Seems rather lame if you ask me since it’s obviously different than me. (Check out the author links to see what I mean.)
Who would masquerade as someone else in the COMMENTS? Ridiculous.
Yes, I’ve got some sneaky bastard doing this on my blog with many of the regular commenter’s names. I’ve gotten rid of most of them, but I guess I missed this one.
If any of you guys notice other fake posts please drop me a note and I’ll remove them immediately!

I am not sure why he would pose as the real Derek but his Comment by link is different. You might do a whois search on that domain. Either he is sharing the same name as you or he needs to be called out. I suppose he might hope that some one will see the many Derek Wong comments and wonder who Derek is and click on the comment link.
Its definitely one that i will bookmark for me.As for terming this as classic Luke rightly commented on it.Just trying to have a top score

Have you heard of the Space Invader Christmas Tree effect? I can’t find anything about it on the web.
If you destroy every column of the invaders from top to bottom (yes it can be done) then you get a reward called the Christmas Tree effect. It looks like a green fountain. I saw a guy do it once in the 70’s. I was never good enough to do it.

I got through the first level clean before it all fell apart. Score 3430. I could almost here Rush or REO Speedwagon playing in the arcade hall.
