I have personally never believed that a IQ test (in the classical sense) has much bearing on the success of a person. BUT it is interesting to see Isaac Newton on the list, one of the people I admire the most. Took a test and scored close to 140 (European model) but do not consider myself a genius by any means.

I felt like an idiot on the last question as it was so obvious yet I took so much time trying to figure it out and the answer was so simple. I still scored a 116, which is modest mind you, although it did well below my last attempt of 128 a year ago through another site. This was fun and highly entertaining. What a great way to start the day! Thanks so much.

IQ doesn't indicate literal intelligence, the more IQ tests I do the better I become at them so surely this suggests that one can train themselves to be highly graded by regular practice of the exercises. It renders the whole assessment an academic process - I think all people are born with equal intelligence, I mean it's great that Kim Ung Yong sits at the top of the list and had a phd by age 16 but what has he really achieved with his superior intellect? Estimations of Einsteins iq put it at 160 and yet he was able to accomplish great marvels, other great intellects who accomplish humanities greatest scientific/mathematical and philosophical achievements (i.e. our greatest thinkers) don't even appear on the lists!

Im a genius, and i am telling you right now that IQ tests arent silly. When someone scores high on a IQ test...its shows their smart...and its never coincidence. Those test are designed to literally tap in to our brain and find out how intelligent we are.A person who scores lets say a 180 cant be dumber than someone who scores a 130...thats not possible, unless the person who had 130 took a test that was alot harder than the test of the one with the 180,and there are no different types of intelligence either.Think about it,take emotional intelligence for example...what is it? Its the ability to understand your own and other peoples emotions.Basically how well u can figure someone out....so if your trying to figure someone out...then your trying to solve a problem..dontcha think? Therefore it's no different than mathematical, problem solving..like u would do on an iq test.

I administer IQ tests all the time. This test seems similar to the performance IQ of the WASI. My IQ is 10 pts lower on this test that it is on the WASI. Could be the lack of sleep, and no coffee. :) I was disappointed to say the least. I scored high on the GRE (96th and 93 percentile) of the population of GRE test takers which like the SAT is proxy for IQ.

A couple of points. First, I don't think that Chris Langan's IQ is as high as he reports it to be.

He provides very little evidence for his claim. His wife is a clinical psychologist and he can easily have practiced the IQ test that he took on television with her beforehand. Second, Marilyn vos Savant is brilliant but she herself admits that IQ scores are silly. You should check out another list of Top 10 Smartest Living People.

I don't actually agree with the people on that list either, but those are at least prominent scientists and so forth, John! I think the problem with that list is that it misses Stephen Hawking, who your list has. Anyway, nice list.

what? and he hasn't killed himself yet?
the people I've know with very high IQs are not only lonely, but they can't be conversed with cause they're always right (they think).
I know-I was married to one :(
