i work at a chain hotel and my housekeepers use plastic cups but now the coffee maker is an issue also the top comforter is rarely washed unless someone spilled something on it. the carpets are prob washed once a yr! thats one reason i hate this job b/c i know too much so now when i travel im very picky.

I have been living in a hotel apartment and I know how they clean. Yes, they do take shortcuts but it is inevitable; they have to clean 15+ rooms in their shift. Thank God the housekeeper uses hot soap on our drinking glasses!

I wouldnt get as worried about cleanliness in a 4 star hotel in Asia as I would about a 5 star hotel in the US or Asia.

You are absolutely right about living in Asia, a lot of cheap hotels here and I am sure that hygiene is not their top priority.

Dear sweet christ. And hotel rates just go up and up. And some hotels act like you should thank THEM for even letting you stay (like the Peppermill, but I ain’t namin’ names!) Take your own containers, folks. And think twice about leave the “maids” a tip. Did she also make the bed with those gloves? And touch the doorknob and light switch! #$&@~! BETTER TAKE ALONG A CAN OF LYSOL, TOO!!

I usually use my own plastic coffee-cup what I always take with me, At least I know how and who cleaned it before. But also living in an asian country made me aware of many things when it comes down to hygienic stuff

Same Brandon, last I visited were paper cups.. next time I travel I’ll just hit up a local walmart to get my own cups/utensils/plates.. that’s scary.

We watched this the night before we traveled for thanksgiving weekend..lol
Had 3 different rooms and all 3 had plastic cups in wrappers. :D

The glasses always “look” clean. I wonder if these maids have any instructions or facilities for cleaning the glasses, are they just cutting corners or are they not set up to do the job right?

On the other hand, this may explain my robust immune system.

Hey I have never stayed in these uptown hotels, that use regular glasses. In fact any of the ones I have stayed in they used the plastic throw away kind, covered in plastic, so you get a fresh clean one everytime!! Thank goodness for me. If I ever come across one with “glasses” I win keep this disgust in mine. Thanks for the heads up!

Problem is whenever you use a hotel, You will most probably have to use the same glasses/utensils. It’s absurd but most hotels do this. Even the most classy and expensive.
