You know Derek, I’m trying not to compare anything to the Four Seasons that doesn’t directly compete with them, but yeah it was a bit of a let down to go from one end of the spectrum to the other. I can’t remember the last time I saw a roach in a hotel, so that was pretty bothersome.

I’m on the Big Island now, so about to run out and do some amazing stuff. Also will be posting a review of the Hilton Waikoloa Village resort in a few days. So far it’s right in between the other two hotels, so we’ll see how it turns out…

From the fixtures, furniture and your description sounds like an older hotel that has not been well taken care of or refurbished. One thing I try to check is when the hotel was built. Less than 5 years good! More than 10 years watch out!

At $175 per night you would expect more, they strike out at 2 of my pet peeves, crappy mattress and cockroaches…

Did you use the hotel glasses ? :-)
