I Love the Mongolian Grill!

by John P.

bds-mongolian-grillJust wanted to share this little clip I took at Bd’s Mongolian Barbeque in Bethesda Maryland a few weeks ago.

For anyone whose never been to one of these places, the way it works is you get a bowl and you go over to the raw food bar and put whatever kind of meats, veggies, noodles, etc. you want in the bowl. Then you bring it over to the guys at the round grill, and they cook it up for you while you wait.

It’s a fantastic way to eat and be entertained, and you can do it at BD’s in the DC area, or at Fire & Ice in Harvard Square in Boston.

None of the cooks looked Mongolian to me :D I actually tried real Mongolian food and it was very different. After a quick research turns out Mongolian BBQ is “Originally from Taiwan, (20th century) it is neither Mongolian nor barbecue.” I would still love to try it though. The video made me hungry.

What an interesting restaurant! That is so cool how their grill tools make all that noise! So how did you like your food?

We have several BD’s here in Indianapolis. Too bad it wasn’t a celebrity griller night…they have local celebrities doing the grilling for you. In Indy they’ve had race car drivers and professional athletes grilling. They also have a ‘Chicks with Sticks’ night where only girls will be grilling for you…
