Has anyone noticed that although I’ve been online since almost the beginning of the Web, there are almost no photos of me, anywhere? Go ahead, search. I’ll wait…
The reason for this is simple. No photographer has been brave enough to put me in front of a camera! Why, well… first of all, I’m not a good looking man. Second of all, I’m unpredictable!
Anyway, this weekend I had the pleasure of working with Debra Gloria in her studio in downtown Dallas for much of the day Saturday. She is fantastic and also happens to be Cali Lewis’ personal photographer (just check her site out… she’s a ‘10′!). Now I’m no Cali Lewis… more like Lewis Black, but seems like she did a pretty good job.
So, here are just a few of the 400 or so shots Debra took. I don’t know why anyone would want to see them other than my mom, but hey – she reads my blog every day! So here you go Mom!
Nice! If she can make even you look good, I wonder if she could work wonders with my mug?
I am just glad that there were no “naturals” taken in this shoot. Or at least—none that hit the web.
Is that some sort of blowtorch you are holding on the second picture or is it a slim light saber? :D
Ilia,
Yeah, that is an oxygen-acetylene welding torch. Debra wanted to get some pics of me messing with things related to my hobbies. Since I’m a welder, bladesmith, amateur photographer/videographer, etc. we took some photos of those things.
John
These are really nice, John. You don’t look all that different from when I saw you 10 years ago. Or 20 years ago, for that matter.
Elisa,
Can you believe that it’s been 20 years! Wow. Just think… two decades ago I was following you around – madly in love! :-D
John
Oh, I really like those pictures – you look like you were really enjoying yourself!! My fave is the one on the right side of the second row from the bottom, well, and the blue shirt one, too. (I bet the blue shirt one is your mom’s fave…) What are you holding in that one on the bottom right?
Lisa,
Hehehe. That is a giant knife that would put Crocodile Dundee to shame! It’s a 15″ competition cutting bade which was hand made by Master Bladesmith Tim Foster.
John
John, these are awesome! Debra’s a great photographer.
John
You were so great to work with! I had a blast with you! Glad your readers are enjoying the photographs!
We will see each other soon again!
Big hug to you!
Debra Gloria!
