You know, I think of myself as a pretty prolific blogger. With over 1,100 posts in under two years, its hard to find others who can match my output. So would it surprise you to learn that even with multiple anti-spam measures in place, there are 100 Spams posted to OMB for every post I write!
That’s right. Akismet alone has saved you guys from reading over 100,000 spam comments, so a big huge thanks goes out to Matt Mullenweg and the gang over at Automattic for offering this service.

What does the name Akismet mean John.
And if you can’t see this, please accept my apologies for talking rubbish again!
Sorry Steve. I didn’t provide that info, but I’ve linked it now. Akismet is the most popular anti-spam plugin probably on the planet. Virtually every WordPress blog runs it.
And the reason that your comments aren’t showing up is that Akismet is marking them as spam every time. It’s because the URL you are using is completely spammy. As you know, I normally do not allow anyone to use anything like that in my comments, but I’ve been letting it go with you because I value your comments and stuff. But I think you’re going to have to change the URL to a non-blacklisted domain because that one is could potentially begin to affect OMB with Google. :-(
John
Thanks for clarifyin John, I certainly wouldn’t want to do anything that would cause OMB problems.
I would prefer you called the url a “hobby site” rather than “completely spammy” – you cheeky monkey.
Being serious though, I have not noticed a problem on any of the other wordpress blogs I post on. Can I ask Askimet whether/why there is an issue?
Clearly until then, I will have to remove the url (:
Akismet is a great plugin. Matt and the guys are doing an unreal great job, They provide us platforms where we are able to develop our little playground (John, in your case it’s not sooo small). Respect and thank you

Wooo! thats some number.Shows you the popularity of your blog John.
Damn. And I was just going to try to sell you a ringtone.
Hehehe. I don’t have time for ringtones with all the pron I’ve been checking out!
John
congrats on the 100k spam mark..lol
I’m about 11k, few more years and I can make a post like this as well :D
Wow 100k, that’s a ton of spam! Even the average/post is really a big amount. Akismet is more than just great.
I think you are very tolerant with regards to posters! Akismet will be of great value to me, someday.
If it takes 3 seconds to delete a spammy comment manually… Akismet has saved you almost 4 days of constant, none stop clicking :D
That is another way to think about it :)
100,000 spams, it is unreal… I probably get that amount a year in my email box as well…
