I wish some of this information makes the big time news and lots of people get to see how so little money can bring so much returns. Our family will paricipate over the next twelve months in a number of these charitable causes. Thanks for provoding us with the opportunity to be awareof ways to be good....

Catering to the "long tail": Although in most things, a small number of people hog the greater amount there are a huge number that don't benefit - be it wealth, technology, privilege, opportunity, learning, whatever.

As the miniature Earth shows, majorities are left out. Google and all these that you've shown us (and thank you, an excellent pick!) are actually trying to provide small amounts of "help" to the large number of people that are less well off. The problem is as ancient as the pyramids (and used to be represented graphically as one but, lately a graph has become fashionable; with a whopping peak on one side that drops down to suddenly to a long tail that peters off towards the other.)

Methinks that communications and information technology is what has begun to make it possible - there is no reason why micro transactions with huge numbers can't be just as profitable as a small quantity of very large ones: provided the means of processing them is available. Thinking globally and helping globally does mean a very large number of individual transactions.

Thanks again for the post.
