The boys and girls over in the marketing department at 7-Eleven have been working overtime and came up with an absolutely awesome election gimmick. You can stop by the convenience store and pick up your coffee in the morning, and when you do, just fill er’ up in either an Obama or a McCain cup to cast your vote!
I found this out this weekend when I was forced to make an emergency pit-stop at 7-Eleven for a large cherry Slurpee. And by forced I mean I was compelled. And by compelled I mean it was necessary. Ok already… I just wanted one!
Anyway, as I was walking in, I noticed this sign hanging in the window and snapped it for all of you, my dear readers.
So, for all of those who have voted with their coffee selection, the following are the results of the Coffee Poll up to this point in time. Keep in mind that this may not be the most scientific methodology available. It’s possible that Obama supporters just happen to frequent 7-Eleven’s more than McCain supporters. Perhaps they are all at Starbucks?
Head on over to 7-Election.com for the latest results.
Yup, Obama is taking it.

Seems McCain isn’t doing to well. Well who wants a 100 years of war anyway? Obviously not coffee drinkers.
That’s pretty interesting – I didn’t know they did that and according to their site, they did it in 2000 and 2004 also.
This is quite an interesting use of a product which is normally not related to political activity. It sure will bring about some thinking on the part of the consumers, which is something to be glad about.
Very nice idea indeed.Obama is in the lead here too.
very nice marketing gimmik.

Slick! I’ve seen the signs on 7-Eleven stores, but I didn’t realize exactly what they were doing. That’s simply ingenious!
i also heard about this “poll” for the first time this week (there aren’t many 711s in my town). from what i read, it has so far been an accurate predictor. considering who is ahead, i hope they’re right again this time. GOBAMA!
I’m taking the blue one. Its my favourite colour. At the election there are colored cups in blue, red, orange und perhabs rose.
