The New House Heineken Commercial

Heineken Walk in Fridge CommercialThis little gem comes courtesy of Jamie Harrop, whose Twitter stream I follow.

In this Heineken commercial a young couple is obviously showing off their new house. And it looks like everyone got exactly what they wanted. Now, that’s a housewarming party!

From the Sand Pit – Message From a Recon Marine in Afghanistan

Marine in AfghanistanWow! I’m not sure if the letter below is legitimate or fabricated. It sounds like it could be from a real Marine, and so I’m going to publish it just in case. Either way, it gives you a lot to think about…

It’s freezing here. I’m sitting on hard, cold dirt between rocks and shrubs at the base of the Hindu Kush Mountains along the Dar ‘yoi Pomir River watching a hole that leads to a tunnel that leads to a cave. Stake out, my friend, and no pizza delivery for thousands of miles.

I also glance at the area around my ass every ten to fifteen seconds to avoid another scorpion sting. I’ve actually given up battling the chiggers and sand fleas, but them scorpions give a jolt like a cattle prod. Hurts like a bastard. The antidote tastes like transmission fluid but God bless the Marine Corps for the five vials of it in my pack.

Physics Invaders – Space Invaders PLUS Gravity

Physics InvadersOk. It’s been a little while since I posted a game, but here is one that I just can’t resist. If you happen to be a fan of the old Space Invaders video game, you’re really going to like this little gem. This modern interpretation of the arcade classic adds some nice features. Most notably, gravity!

Now when you shoot the alien ships, they fall out of the sky. They even pile up in your path! So, you can be surrounded by the carcasses of the aliens you destroy! Awesome!

Right Brain vs. Left Brain Test

spinning-womanOk folks, I’m not sure if this is a joke or what. The Australian Herald Sun posted this Right Brain vs. Left Brain test which is nothing more than a picture of a lady spinning around.

THE Right Brain vs Left Brain test … do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

They add the following interpretation:

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science
can comprehend
knowing
acknowledges
order/pattern perception
knows object name
reality based
forms strategies
practical
safe

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
“big picture” oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can “get it” (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function
fantasy based
presents possibilities
impetuous
risk taking

Frankly, I only see the lady turning clockwise. I find it very difficult to believe that ANYONE sees it turning counter-clockwise, much less most people! So please take a moment and leave a comment to let me know how you see it. If everyone sees clockwise I’m going to call this test a fraud…

Plasma Cutting the GeekBrief Logo

plasma-cutting-the-geekbrief-logoOk. This post is going to get me in big trouble with Greg Lewis. I still owe him a piece of art from like 2 years ago. Yet Cali Lewis (no relation to Greg) asks me if I could cut the GeekBrief logo out on the PlasmaCAM for her and I do it in like 48 hours. Well Greg, I only have one thing to say… when you’re as hot as Cali, I’ll finish your art in 48 hours too!

All kidding aside though, Cali and Neal have been waiting patiently for months since they first saw my machine sitting in the garage, and I finally got off my lazy butt and decided to cut the GeekBrief.TV logo out in celebration of their 500th show! So, if any of you would like to watch a little video about cutting things out of steel with a giant robot, here you go.

Watchmen – The Official Movie Trailers and Photos

watchmenThis is the last of the movie trailers that I’m posting this week which I’m interested in seeing when they come out. I’ve never heard of the Watchmen before, but it kind of looks like an X-men type of thing, except without all of the legitimate powers. But frankly, any movie with a chick this hot that runs around in a rubber outfit with garters has to be good!

A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, Watchmen is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the “Doomsday Clock” – which charts the USA’s tension with the Soviet Union – is permanently set at five minutes to midnight.

When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes. As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion – a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers – Rorschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future.

Their mission is to watch over humanity…but who is watching the watchmen?

The Pink Panther 2 Trailer

The Pink Panther 2I don’t know how many of you guys are fans of silly movies, but I’ve enjoyed every Pink Panther movie I ever saw. Even Son of the Pink Panther starring Robert Benigni.

Anyway, a couple of years ago Steve Martin and Beyonce Knowles did a remake of the original classic The Pink Panther, and I added it to my DVD collection which already included all the other original Pink Panther movies. Now, three years later it looks like we’re going to get the second installation featuring Steve Martin as the infamous Jaques Clouseau in The Pink Panther 2. And, as an added bonus John Cleese, of Monty Python fame, will fill in as Inspector Dreyfus.

So if you enjoy slapstick comedy and silliness in your movies, this one should not disappoint.

President Barack Obama’s 2009 Inauguration and Address

president-obamaToday The United States of America took a profound step forward. I don’t believe that any of us can yet comprehend the gravity of the day, but I am certain that we witnessed an event that will be forever etched in history. We, the people, freely elected Barack Hussein Obama as our leader, and today he took control of the most powerful and prosperous nation, perhaps ever, on the planet.

The video below captured this historic event, including both the presidential inauguration and President Obama’s address to the nation. If you were unable to see it previously I suggest taking a look at it now. President Obama’s address was meant not only for the citizens of the United States, but for the people of the world.

Underworld 3 Rise of the Lycans – Official Movie Trailer

Underworld 3 Rise of the LycansOk. Looks like this is turning into the week of movie trailers because there are a bunch that I can’t wait to see!

Next on the list after yesterday’s X-Men Origins is Underworld 3 – Rise of the Lycans. I’m not into horror movies, but I love action movies which is what saves this series for me. Underworld is essentially about an epic struggle between vampires and werewolves, but not a series in which they stalk people. It’s just an action genre that happens to star them.

The following summary does a better job than I could explaining what’s going on. And after you’re done, you can see the trailer. Enjoy!
