It’s funny that other commentators object to the slums of Mumbai being shown as poor – they are – something like 7 million people in 700 acres – the overall shots of the slums are not faked.

What I liked is that it’s a gangster movie – oh yeah, its a feel good, rags to riches movie – that makes it sound sappy and like the English patient or something

This was a gangster movie – cutting edge, some violence, tough times, crime – oh yeah, even poverty – and somehow ends up having a romantic happy endning – and a great Bollywood song at the end!

I thought this was an amazing film – no matter who made it, indie film, Bollywood or major producer/director – just an all out great movie – even BETTER than you’d think before watching it

A rare gem.

You’re right that Slumdog is a feel-good movie, but I was impressed that it was a feel-good movie without feeling like a Disney movie. The movie had some intensity that Disney wouldn’t include. Slumdog offered a sense of reality while leaving audiences feeling good.

For a long time I havent watched a story with such different kind of story.Even the script was so meticulously written and well attatched with the main srory.You will find very rare instances where such a mix of “story” and “real life” is done.I love every actors’ performances and also appreciated how the kids acted too naturally.My average rating would be 4.5/5.This movie has now become one of my evergreen favorites!

Film is not “celebration of creativity”…..it is just any other movie made with goody-goody feel on human relationship and Love prevails non-sense. It is just that it is made by a westerner and distributed by “Fox Searchlight Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures”…hence it made a global opening….

India is portrayed as a pathetic slum which west wanted to see as they do not want to tarnish the image which they comply with.

Rest stupidity of congress to take the credit is cheap and they should try to do something for country rather than taking a bath in the glory of some movie.

This movie has really made India proud. I loved the movie but they have shown India too poor and dirty, which its not exactly like that.
