I Executed My AMG

amgWell folks, yesterday I committed a cardinal sin. I wrecked my new AMG that I just told you about not long ago.

Those of you who follow me on Twitter got the news about an hour and a half after the wreck… just after the tow truck took my car back to the dealership from whence it came. And a very special thanks to all of you who called or responded back to my Tweet. I very much appreciate your concern for my safety (Lisa, Giovanni, Ted, Mike, Hallie, Paul H., Mike B., Paul M., I hope I didn’t miss anyone?).

This update is for the rest of you guys like my parents who read this every day and are going to call me after this and ask me why they had to learn about my accident through my blog! Well, the answer is… it’s just easier to tell everyone all at once, and no one was hurt – just my baby. So it wasn’t an emergency or anything. You’d have gotten a call if so.

The Princess Bride – As You Wish…

as-you-wishI don’t know if you are like me… but I love to quote movie lines! I quote them all the time, but the problem is, there are some people who just haven’t seen them all. So, I’m going to start digging up the ones I say all the time and adding them to my blog so that those of you who know and love me can at least get in on the action.

This first movie quote comes from The Princess Bride. One of the greatest movies ever made! The very opening of the movie includes a discussion about a very, very important phrase that is a recurring theme of the film, “…as you wish.” If you didn’t fully understand the significance of this phrase, this little clip will clear it up for you.

The John P. Health Challenge – Are You Up For It?

workoutHey folks, next week I’ve committed myself to starting a new Health Challenge. Well, technically I stole that name from Jack Finlayson, our CEO at Layered Tech. You see, every year Jack runs a Health Challenge for the folks at work. It works about like this…

  • First of all, participants are all on the honor system. You can choose to participate or not, but if you are disqualified then you have to admit it and you aren’t eligible for the prizes that come at the end.
  • There are some exercise requirements.
  • There are some dietary requirements.
  • It lasts for about 12 weeks.

At the end of the challenge, whoever has shown the most notable improvement wins! So, starting this coming Sunday, April 12, 2009, I’m going to be kicking off my own little health challenge right here for readers of my blog. Complete with glory and prizes! You’ve got the rest of this week to prepare, but then the progress begins next week!

Personally, I am starting out at 188.8 pounds and 22.5% bodyfat. My number one goal is to lose inches off my waist which is 34″. Ideally I would like to have a 31″ waist.

Yoics Delivers Free Remote Desktop Sharing for Macs, Linux and PCs

Yoics!I just signed up for a new Beta service called Yoics today. (I wonder how that is pronounced by the way?) It’s a very interesting Remote Desktop sharing service, and it works with PCs and, most importantly, Macs. The underlying technology appears to be VNC, which I appreciate because it is a mature technology. But it seems they’ve managed to make it extremely simple to use.

Yoics allows you to share not only your remote machine’s desktop, but also the drives in your machine and even devices like Webcams!

Yoics Supported Devices
That’s right, you could set up Webcams all over your house, and use Yoics as a remote security monitoring system. But wait! There’s more! If you happen to have a Drobo file storage unit and the accompanying DroboShare network adapter, you can also directly connect to it via Yoics.

Hey Ladies, it’s Time to Mow the Lawn…

It's Time to Mow the LawnEveryone loves a nicely trimmed lawn. Personally, I’m a fan of John Deere tractors. But it seems the ladies in this commercial prefer to use a Wilkinson razor? Wouldn’t that take a long time? I guess I just don’t get it…

Iraqi Government to Execute 128 Men Because They’re Gay

Dead Gay IraqisAccording to an exiled member of the Iraqi Gay and Lesbian community, the Iraqi government (which is currently propped up by the US military) is about to begin a string of executions of 128 men who are guilty solely of the “crime” of homosexuality.

The tragedy is that I haven’t seen or heard anything about this unbelievable human rights violation from any of the mainstream media. And we must have hundreds of reporters in Iraq, so what the hell are they doing?

Lest we believe it’s a fabrication, CNN has previously reported and cited a UN study which clearly shows that the problem is well known:

Woopra Adds Webcam Functionality

From the Woopra blog

I wanted to take a moment to share our latest press announcement with you guys. The entire Woopra team has been hard at work building this exciting new feature for months. Finally, all that hard work has paid off and as we ready the next release of Woopra we wanted to give you a sneak peak at things to come.

Woopra to Launch World’s First Webcam Spy Feature for Web Sites

Eindhoven, Netherlands

Woopra, the world’s fastest growing Web Analytics provider, today announced that the next version of its wildly popular real-time Website monitoring application will allow users to remotely activate and view Website visitor’s built-in Webcams.

The company’s chief scientist, Dr. Lirpa Sloof, said, “Woopra already provides the most robust, feature rich and easy to use Web analytics available. Today we extend our market lead by integrating our latest patent-pending technology to give Webmasters more information about their visitors than ever before.”

Combined with Woopra’s unique abilities to display individual Web site visitors in real time and track them by name, this new technology levels the playing field by enabling companies and individuals alike to gain unprecedented visibility into user demographics and preferences.

According to John P., iFusion Labs CEO, “Governments have been using this technology for over a decade. What we’ve done is simply made it available to the general public.”

The new feature is due to be released in the next version of the Woopra desktop application. For more information or to sign up for a free account, visit http://woopra.com.

Since it can be difficult to imagine what this new feature can do, I put together a short demonstration video. On behalf of the entire team, we hope that you guys enjoy the new functionality!
