Sample High Speed Video from the Casio EX-FC100

casio-ex-fc100So, I got a Casio High-Speed Exilim EX-FC100 camera which is capable of up to 1,000 frames per second of video capture for a specific project that I’m working on which you guys will see pretty soon… But in the meantime I took a couple of sample videos just testing it out so far.

The bottom line on this camera is that if you shoot video for just about any reason, you should pick one of these up so that you can add high-speed captures to your bag of tricks. It’s cheap and easy and the results are worth it. The normal stills from the camera are also good (not great) and the features are adequate for a highly portable point and shoot camera.

My Favorite Movie: Ford Fairlane… on YouTube NOW!

Ford FairlaneHere is a special little treat. Someone has broken like 47 laws and uploaded almost the complete movie The Adventures of Ford Fairlane starring Andrew Dice Clay. Now, for those of you who recall, whenever I post something like this it seems like YouTube is watching my site, so I would expect these pieces to disappear very quickly after I post them. But if you manage to be around and want to watch a fun movie, have at it!

By the way, even if you don’t particularly like Andrew Dice Clay as a comedian, this is still a very entertaining movie. Even my wife enjoys it. It’s got a 4.5 star rating on Amazon, and here it is on IMDB. I will say that it is not appropriate for kids though. Lots of racy scenes, but all in all an excellent comedy / action flick.

The Princess Bride – It’s Inconceivable!

Inconceivable!Ok. Since everyone and their dog has been abusing the word “inconceivable” since I used it the other day, we’re going to round out our Princess Bride movie quotes with this last one before I start moving on to other movies!

The background story is that Vincent, a Sicilian who is employed to start a war by kidnapping a princess, tends to overuse the word inconceivable. So, here’s a little compilation of the phrase throughout the movie. Frankly it is inconceivable to me that anyone took the time to put this together!

The Blonde Joke to End All Blonde Jokes

Blonde Police WomanOk, we’re going to start a whole new category here on OMB. I haven’t added any categories in a long time, but I just realized that I’ve got no jokes on my blog! That is inconceivable! Anyway, here is the inaugural joke. Sent to me by my dad, and previously sent to him by a friend. Enjoy! And if you’ve got any good ones to share please send them to me and I’ll post the best!

A blonde woman was speeding down the road in her little red sports car and was pulled over by a woman police officer who was also a blonde. The blonde cop asked to see the blonde driver’s license. She dug through her purse and was getting progressively more agitated.

‘What does it look like?’ she finally asked.

The policewoman replied, ‘It’s square and it has your picture on it.’

The driver finally found a square mirror in her purse, looked at it and handed it to the policewoman. ‘Here it is,’ she said. The blonde officer looked at the mirror, then handed it back saying, ‘OK, you can go. I didn’t realize you were a cop.’

I sure wish Colby Jones would illustrate this one for us! It would be awesome!

Oh, and the Daily News in Australia has a great article with the Top 50 Dumb Blonde Celebrity Quotes. Priceless.

Amazing Bike Stunts Care of Danny Macaskill

Danny MacaskillIn case I haven’t mentioned it. I want to be Danny Macaskill. I kid you not. This man is a complete bad ass on a bicycle. In fact, before I saw this video I thought most of this stuff was impossible. I wouldn’t even believe it now, except that I don’t think the state of computer generated graphics is quite as good as all this.

Anyway, check it out as Danny does some of the most wicked bike stunts you’ve ever seen. And of course if anyone has seen more like this let me know!

The John P. Health Challenge Update #3

Wow. Has it really only been less than 5 weeks since we started the Health Challenge? That is so hard for me to believe. Granted, I started a couple of weeks before everyone else, but really even I’ve only been doing this for about 6-7 weeks. So let’s review the results so far shall we?

  • In less than 5 weeks since I officially started I’ve lost 15 pounds. That is 8.6% of my body weight.
  • If we include the 2 weeks prior, I’ve lost 21 pounds. That is 10.8% of my body weight
  • I’ve lost 3.5% of body fat.
  • I’ve gone from doing 30 curls and 35 pushups in one day to 50 plus 300!
  • I’ve lost at least 2 inches off of my waist and people have really been commenting that my appearance is dramatically different.

Now, it’s also important to note that I have not spent a single penny on diet aids (no pills, plans, books or anything else), I’ve not stepped a foot inside a gym, and in fact, the only weights I’ve used have been two 30 pound dumbbells. The only thing I have used since I started, is a whole bucket-load of discipline. And this should absolutely prove that you can do it too. You just have to want it!
