Tonight we had another massive lightning storm. We got a lot of these here in Texas, and I was workin it with my camera this evening. I stayed out capturing these photos until the lightning was within about a mile or two of me. The sound was deafening! I literally had to put ear plugs in because it was painful. My wife thought I was crazy too. ;-)
And here is a 2 minute video of the actual storm that these photos came from.

John, that’s because you are crazy! But that’s probably why we all love ya – including the wife – even if she won’t admit it! LOL
Dang!!!! These pictures are AMAZING!
Wow, John. I’ve collected pictures of lightning over the years and these are incredible in comparison!
The fisheye lens actually adds to the quality on some of these. Great job!
Did y’all lose power? Those friends of mine in northern Frisco went dark right in the middle of the UNT game.
Another amazing photoset. The photoset is huge and flickr is really slow today and not that convenient way to see photos unless if you want to see them in small resolution.
The lights flickered one time for a fraction of a second, but other than that we were good. Your friend’s power transformer may have been hit or something!
