TUTORIAL: How To Run TV Power Cables Through Your Wall

Up at the office we had a TV that we wanted to mount on the wall in the reception area. Only problem is, the power plug is down at the bottom of the wall and we really didn’t want cables hanging down the wall looking all messy. So the solution was to route the cable through the wall.
we did it a little different: We got a blank plate w/ a small hole & a generic wall mount. Then ran it down. Top hole was “raw” with a little tape to keep it clean. Total cost was only $5 and I found what I needed at the local home center.
Wow, so simple. I wish I could do that in my house in NZ. However, NZ houses with stud walls have (at least) one row of horizontal noggins between the upper half and bottom half of the gib (i.e. sheetrock) wall. So, as well as the stud you have these little horizontal pieces of wood between the studs. That makes dropping the cables really hard.
