LSD Tested On Combat TroopsThis is an old clip of a study of the effects of LSD on combat troops. It appears to be from around the 1940’s, and I don’t have any clue where it came from originally. But its mildly amusing to see a bunch of highly trained killing machines walking around aimlessly and falling over laughing.

LSD is typically delivered orally, usually on a sugar cube or in some sort of food product, so I’m guessing they were trying to determine how they could weaponize it by contaminating an enemy’s water supply or food supply. One surefire way to win is to make the other side not care if they fight any longer!

Kristina KireevaI came across this video labeled “The worlds most flexible woman” about Kristina Kireeva. I’m not sure exactly how you would measure flexibility, but I am sure that no one could possibly beat her by much!

Here is an interview with Kristina conducted by CircusLand that sheds light on a few details. Kristina began training at the age of 12 and comes from an entire family of circus performers! Her mother, father and brother are all in the circus.

Visit the Mutatoes Collection!

Mutated FruitMother nature is funny. Natural mutations are occurring in the world all around us, especially with regards to food crops. But we never see them because anything that appears abnormal is filtered out before it hits our grocery stores.

Uli Westphal, however, has done a fantastic job of hunting down mutant fruits and vegetables at the farmer’s market in Berlin and has meticulously and professionally photographed and cataloged them for us all to see.

High-Fructose Corn SyrupWow, this is very bad news considering my complete and utter addiction to Coke. But Dr. Chi-Tang Ho, professor of food science at Rutgers University has uncovered evidence that our addiction to canned drinks is directly linked to diabetes because of the high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS).

HFCS is a sweetener found in many foods and beverages, including non-diet soda pop, baked goods, and condiments. It is has become the sweetener of choice for many food manufacturers because it is considered more economical, sweeter and more easy to blend into beverages than table sugar. Some researchers have suggested that high-fructose corn syrup may contribute to an increased risk of diabetes as well as obesity, a claim which the food industry disputes. Until now, little laboratory evidence has been available on the topic.

In the current study, Chi-Tang Ho, Ph.D., conducted chemical tests among 11 different carbonated soft drinks containing HFCS. He found ‘astonishingly high’ levels of reactive carbonyls in those beverages. These undesirable and highly-reactive compounds associated with “unbound” fructose and glucose molecules are believed to cause tissue damage, says Ho, a professor of food science at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J. By contrast, reactive carbonyls are not present in table sugar, whose fructose and glucose components are “bound” and chemically stable, the researcher notes.

So, I went shopping after I read this article with a renewed interest in avoiding products with high fructose corn syrup in them, and I could not believe how many of my every day items are on the list…

How to Throw a Knockout Punch

Guest Star!Author of this article, Hrafn Th. Thorisson

By Guest Star: Hrafn Th. Thorisson of Think Artificial

Boxer with his glows showingIt’s a relatively well known fact that to throw a heavy punch you should put your body into it. This might sound simple enough in theory. Yet, during the years I used to practice mixed martial arts I observed quite a few people understand the idea, but still utterly fail in its application. Here’s a summary of how to throw a heavy punch, and a couple of nifty tricks I learned to help get it right.

MotionEaze for Motion SicknessAbout 4 years ago while at a boat show in Annapolis, Maryland I happened across a booth where some people were selling an “all natural motion sickness treatment” called MotionEaze. Naturally I almost passed it by because I figured it was a bunch of crap. But when I saw a few of the boat captains buying it up I stopped and talked to one of them about it.

It’s been a while so I can’t quote them directly, but whatever they told me convinced me to give it a try. So I plopped down $15 for a bottle and went on my merry way. A few weeks later on an airplane trip I passed it to a friend that suffers from motion sickness and I’ll be damned if it didn’t take care of the problem immediately!

Why People Have Sex

SexOk, I know what you’re thinking. The answer to this question is soo obvious… But you’d be wrong!

A paper published to the Web in July 2007 by two University of Texas psychologists, Cindy M. Meston and David M. Buss, entitled Why Humans Have Sex lists 237 distinct reasons! And they run the whole gamut of human emotions ranging from altruistic (‘‘I wanted the person to feel good about himself/herself’’) to vengeful (‘‘I wanted to get back at my partner for having cheated on me”).

I thought that might get your attention. But it’s true. Today Bush is going to undergo a colonoscopy and before he goes under he’ll be signing over Presidential power to Cheney until after the operation.

The procedure will be supervised by Dr. Richard Tubb, the president’s doctor. It will be done by a team from the National Naval Medical Center at Bethesda, Md. Because the president will be under the effects of anesthesia, Bush has elected to implement Section 3 of the 25th Amendment to the Constitution, making Cheney acting president until Bush indicates he is prepared to reassume his authority.

During Saturday’s transfer of power, the vice president will be at his home on the Chesapeake Bay in St. Michaels, Md., about 45 miles east of Washington, Snow said.

The 2002 transfer was only the second time that the Constitution’s presidential disability clause was invoked. President Reagan was the first to invoke the Constitution’s 25th Amendment since its adoption in 1967 as a means of dealing with presidential disability and succession.

Show Us Yours! The Boob Blog

Naked BreastsFirst of all, NO… my blog is not digressing into another porn site! Actually it’s sad, but I really debated about reporting this because nudity is involved. But I decided that it was for the common good and that the vast majority of my readers would probably appreciate the link…

The popular women’s magazine Jane has launched a Breast Health Guide, and a related Boob Blog called Show Us Yours!

The blog encourages regular women to send in a photo of their own breasts and a description about what they like about them. A LOT of women have taken up the challenge and they range from small to very, very large, and also including brave women with mastectomys, the site proves that boobs come in all shapes and sizes and that the most important thing is not what they look like, but that you are loved for who you are.

Ford ModelsAs we all know, working out can be pretty boring. As we also know, often models are not the sharpest tools in the shed. However, as the following videos prove, there are exceptions to both of these rules!

The Ford Modeling agency has come up with a great plan to get some exposure for their models in the form of having them share some of their favorite workout tips via Web videos. I’ve chosen a few of the ones I found particularly useful. Hopefully you’ll find a few good tips too.
