10 Flickr Groups Featuring Original Lego Photos and Artworks

Everyone loves Lego, or at least did at some point in their life. Most of us have fond memories of sitting around and building houses, spaceships and cars, shoving on those oddly shaped little Lego men around and playing for hours on end with the blocks. We also have terribly vivid recollections of finding those same blocks in the carpet with our bare feet, possibly one of the most painful toy-related injuries you can imagine.

Just to show that not everyone grows out of their Lego love, there are a number of Flickr groups that have been created to cater to the hobby. These are ten excellent ones out of the dozens, some of which will make you laugh out loud.

Always Remember To Turn Off Your Cell Phones Before The Movie Starts

We have all seen them in a movie theater at one time or another before watching our Feature Presentation. You’ve probably seen one like this playing at the end of the previews if you have been in a AMC Theater:

But check out this one that was shown at a local Columbus Cowtown Film Festival. This one was made by Beetoons On Youtube for that film festival:

Now imagine though this clip below of a pastor losing his temper in church when one of the attendees cell phone goes off during the worship service and she takes the call! This would work very well for a movie theater preroll as well lol:

A Young Auctioneer In The Making?

Kids can really say the darnedest things. And in this case, can DO the darnedest things especially when it’s the spur of the moment and unplanned. In this video, my friend Vernon from Tulsa, Oklahoma was having a little fun with his grandson. While he did some “auctioneering” his 2 year old grandson auctioneered along with him. He did quite an amazing job!

I think this could be a young auctioneer in the making :)

Coffee Shop Etiquette: Where Everyone Knows Your Name

I like to hang out at a local coffee shop. I’ll go there alone, or sometimes with my wife. I will read and/or write and if my wife is there, she will knit.  On occasion I will meet a friend there and we will solve world issues or plan whatever our next big thing is going to be.

I have loved this place from the first moment I walked in there about a year and a half ago and we view it as our local Cheers, where everybody knows your name. At the very least, most in there are a familiar face. Now that I have established this scenario for you, let me share a specific incident that happened to me recently.

My seat in this place is on a love seat which happens to be paired with a matching chair and they are arranged in a way to have a conversation with one or two friends. I’m sure I’m not the only one that views that particular corner as their own but as far as I’m concerned, when I’m there, it is rightfully mine.

My Corner of the Coffee Shop

One Saturday morning, I’m sitting there doing my thing and actually waiting for my wife to show up when someone came up and asked to sit in the chair next to me. I declined his offer while at the same time explaining my dilemma of my wife showing up soon. The place was mostly empty so it wasn’t like seating was at a premium. He moved on.

Within 10 minutes, someone else came up and just sat down. He didn’t ask permission or anything, he simply took what was not rightfully his, in my opinion.  It was at this moment when I became acutely aware of how large my space bubble actually was and clearly, we had an invasion. If I know you and you walk up, of course you can sit down and you will be welcome into my space.  If I don’t know you and you sit down against my will, then it’s an invasion.

Back to the scene of the crime. I’m adjusting to my new reality of not having my space unencumbered when my new “friend” crossed his legs, putting his ankle on his knee.  The sole of his shoe is now 6″ away from my knee! At this point, I’m twitching!

I may have unusual space standards, I really don’t know. I actually had to leave shortly after he got comfy, or I feared I would implode but I wasn’t sure if I should give him a hug or what the appropriate departure should be.

Is there such a thing as coffee shop etiquette? Are there certain rules that should be observed or is it a free for all? Am I out of line for thinking that loveseat/chair arrangement all belongs to me? Maybe it’s time to write down these unwritten rules that we all seem to know but we clearly don’t all adhere to.

What are your top coffee shop etiquette rules?

Chuck Woolery on the Zombie Apocalypse

It’s always great to see someone from my past still making an impact in the world of media. Chuck Woolery has had a long career in television. From being the 1st host of Wheel Of Fortune:

He would most be remembered though for being the host of Love Connection:

And now Chuck (Who will be 71 on March 16) is still going strong! In this video he teaches us how to survive a Zombie Apocalypse:

Amazing GIFs That Feature Cyclic Movements

Animated GIF images remain extremely popular, years after they first hit the web. Many are simply tiny clips from other media, such as television shows or movies. But others have been created from scratch to offer something unique from designers showcasing their work.

David Ope has a Tumblr account called DVDP, where he features his many graphic art experiments. A great deal of his GIF images have cyclic movements as their focus. These are some of his best.

Must See Video: Starling’s Murmuration

There are many amazing things to see in nature with some events like the seasonal migration of the “warm weather” birds from the northern part of the United States to the southern parts of the country during the winter. But none of those can compare to the sights caught in this next video.

While in the United Kingdom, Photographer, Dylan Winter caught this amazing flock of Starling’s in their yearly migration which is referred to as murmuration. This amazing sight can contain thousands of Starlings and the patterns they help create flawlessly in the sky is truly awe inspiring!
