In a couple of weeks we celebrate Thanksgiving. That special Thursday in America each year where we give thanks for the following weekend’s shopping frenzy. The Friday following Thanksgiving is therefor known as “Black Friday”.
That’s right. For one weekend each year people lose their minds completely and run up untold credit card bills which they will spend the next year trying to pay off so that they can do it all over again.

Most people have probably seen those little white dinosaur robots you can get at Target, and some people may have seen Sony’s Aibo pet dog, but now there is a robo-pet that eclipses them all… Pleo is a one-week old infant Camarasaurus from the Jurassic period.
According to the marketing material, Pleo is an authentic Life Form. Treat him gently like any other living thing. Your Pleo will let you know how he feels at any moment. That’s because he is capable of actual emotions including joy, aggression, sorrow, and fear. He can also yawn, sigh, sniff, sniffle, snore, cough, hiccup, and sneeze.

You’ve heard all of those Tempurpedic ads about how their space-age material was developed by NASA right?
Well, I’ve got one question for them… does their mattress hover? No? Well, it’s time to move on to the next one then.
Some of those crazy Europeans, no longer content with staying in contact with Mother Earth, have designed a bed that uses high powered magnets to levitate while you sleep.

If my brother and I had these as kids we’d have worn them out in no time.
The Shocking Tanks are remote controlled vehicles that can actually shoot at one another, and when one is hit the remote control delivers a mild (or not so mild, depending on the settings) shock to the operator.

Philips has come up with a way to ensure that the teens of tomorrow can seriously annoy the hell out of… well, just about anyone, by developing a fabric that essentially acts like a computer monitor.
The fabric, called Lumalive, has boatloads of little LEDs along with superfine wires embedded into it. When connected to a controller it can display full motion animation.
Check it out.

There is cool… and then there is awesome! This falls into the latter category.
Northern Tool just announced that they are selling parking meters for $200.
Man, I can think of all sorts of devious things to do with one of these, but even if I weren’t going to wreak havoc on public streets, it would be way cool to have one of these in your garage.

Who comes up with these things? These little somewhat sentient stick figures interact with one another when you places their cubes together.
Apparently they can even roam from one cube to another when you stack them all up. Here is a description from the site:

Remote control cars and planes are cool, but there is nothing like being able to fly a remote control helicopter around inside your house.
Of course, if you’re going to do that, you’ll need one of these special new RC units with the dual rotors and built in fuzzy logic chip. This sucker will buy you plenty of hours of fun chasing pets or people throughout your house and property.

We stopped by a friend’s house the other evening, and they had this little electronic toy sitting out. Being the gadget freak I am, I had to ask what the heck it was. Turns out it’s a little 20 Questions game, and it is just freaky accurate!
Believe me, we came up with all kinds of words for it to try, and it produced the correct answer for almost all of them (try “toenail”). I’d recommend picking up one of these little gadgets for $20 from Target to entertain friends and family. It’s a great conversation starter.

This portable chaise looks like it would be an awesome addition to any back yard pool and would double as a fantastic beach chair. I don’t have one, but sure would like to try it out.
They claim it is made with an aluminum frame and weighs only 7 lbs. It comes with an adjustable pillow and the seating surface is nylon fabric.
