Ultimate Golf Ball Locator

Scout Golf Ball LocatorIf you golf like I do, and considering the cost of some good balls, this gadget will probably save you more money than it costs in just a few rounds.

The ballfinder scout is basically a specialized digital camera which is trained to recognize a white ball so long as at least 3 dimples are visible. Just point it at the area you suspect your ball to be and it will home in on it like a radar.

Nuvi 660 Portable GPS Review

nuvi660.jpgYesterday I purchased a new Garmin Nuvi 660 portable GPS receiver to use in my new vehicle. So far, I’m going to have to give this little unit a rating of 8.5 out of 10.

Things that are fantastic about this unit:

Cube World, for your Cube… World?

Cube WorldWho comes up with these things? These little somewhat sentient stick figures interact with one another when you places their cubes together.

Apparently they can even roam from one cube to another when you stack them all up. Here is a description from the site:

1984Those who know me, know that I support the unrestricted development of all new technology. I don’t care if it’s medical, computational, military or any other. Almost all new technology can be used for good or evil, so it’s up to society to determine what is or is not acceptable, and what does or does not need to be regulated.

Take for example the Global Positioning System. This network of satellites encircling the globe has enabled the US military to carry out targeted operations, ensuring military dominance while also sparing civilian lives. GPS also enables civilians a previously unmatched freedom to navigate, measure, map and otherwise understand our surroundings.

The most recent technological innovation involves combining GPS with wireless networking (such as cellular connectivity) to allow businesses, governments and individuals to track goods being transported or even employees or family members.

Your Computer on a USB Key

USB DriveSince the advent of the USB thumb drive, there has been a growing trend that one should be able to take all of one’s own applications with them in their pocket and just plug into any available PC to use your programs.

20 Questions Deluxe

20<br />
QuestionsWe stopped by a friend’s house the other evening, and they had this little electronic toy sitting out. Being the gadget freak I am, I had to ask what the heck it was. Turns out it’s a little 20 Questions game, and it is just freaky accurate!

Believe me, we came up with all kinds of words for it to try, and it produced the correct answer for almost all of them (try “toenail”). I’d recommend picking up one of these little gadgets for $20 from Target to entertain friends and family. It’s a great conversation starter.

The Conceal(ed) Book Shelf

Concealed Book ShelfNot a lot I can say about this inventive little product other than the fact that it is really, really cool. And the fact that you can pick these up at any Container Store for $7.50 doesn’t suck either!

Basically one large book “hooks” into the wall mounted bracket and you then stack other books on top of it.

I imagine that this would look quite impressive, assuming you had enough wall space to put a few of these across it with some really nice books. People would probably think that you must be well educated and cultured, even if you just use trained monkeys (like me) to do your readin and writin for you.

Robots to Take Over World in 2020

robotWhen I was about 13 my dad brought home my first computer, a TI-99/4a.

I remember programming it to run a BASIC program called “Mr. Bojangles” which created a little dancing stick figure. At the time I bet my pop looked at that and thought, “Is this what I wasted my money on?” Little did he know that just over a decade later I would found HTMLHelp.com, one of the earliest Web sites, which now receives over 25 million visitors each year.

Sprint PPC-6700 - The Ultimate Phone

Sprint PPC-6700There aren’t that many phones that inspire such a loyal following that an entire discussion forum gets dedicated to them. But the PPC-6700 is one such phone. The PPC6700 Users Forum is overflowing with information on hacking, using and generally getting the most out of this all-in-one Phone / PDA.

I’ve had a string of combo devices including the Treo 600 & 650, but nothing has ever come close to the usefulness of the PPC6700. Here are a few examples of how I use my phone on a day to day basis:
