The Very Best of Soccer Freestyle

juggling-2-ballsYou know, sometimes I like to watch people who are just incredibly talented because it motivates me to be less… well, ordinary. I don’t really care what you do, as long as you just do it better than anyone else!

Well, here are a batch of guys who have obviously spent enough time with a Soccer ball that it’s become like another appendage to them. Watch what they do, and just think… what if I was this good at my job?

Invisible Skateboarding is Cool

invisible skateboardingOk folks. I’m not really into skateboarding, and this video starts out a little slow, but if you’ll stick with it, after about one minute I think you’ll find it’s mesmerizing.

I’m not exactly sure how they did it, but I’m guessing that these guys must have painted their skateboards entirely pink or bright green or something like that, then had the video editing software delete that information.

Dance Dance Revolution Fanatics

dance-danceFolks, I was at Dave and Busters in Frisco, Texas and saw these two guys going to town on this dancing video game! I think it was called Dance, Dance, Revolution… but I could be wrong.

Anyway, just check out these two little clips I took with my crappy cell phone video camera. (Hey, they’re better than nothing!) My question is, how much money do you think you have to spend to get this good at dancing on a video game? And the follow up question is, do you think the chicks dig it?

Ronaldinho - This Guy Can Play Soccer

RonaldinhoRonaldo de Assís Moreira, commonly known as Ronaldinho (born March 21, 1980 in Porto Alegre), is a football (soccer for us Americans) player originally from Brazil who is now a naturalized Spanish citizen. He plays for FC Barcelona.

As far as I’m concerned Ronaldinho is probably the best footballer alive today, but even if he isn’t he is certainly the most entertaining to watch. He does things with a Soccer ball that seem literally impossible. The only other player that ever amazed me like that before was Pele.

Oh, and one other thing I really like about this guy… despite the fact that he’s the greatest player around he’s humble.

“God gives gifts to everyone, … Some can write, some can dance. He gave me the skill to play football and I am making the most of it.”

These Guys Can Seriously Play Ping Poing

Ping PongAhh, Ping Pong. The sport that people like to make fun of and take for granted until they are on the end of a serious ass-whooping.

My buddy Greg was the champ back in my old days at SAVVIS (though I’m sure Dave would take exception to that statement), and he used to routinely put the beat down on me. Now, it didn’t really bother me so bad that he was beating me - except for when he did it with his left hand! Or, when he played me on his knees the entire game. Oh yeah, and then there was the time he crushed me while holding the table with one hand the entire game! Dammit!

Anyway, I’m just happy to know that as bad as Greg made me look, there are a lot of people out there that could do the same to him. And here is a whole collection of Ping Pong pros who would absolutely crush you - no matter who you are!

Cung Le is a Shaolin Warrior

Cung LeAt 5′10″ and 180 pounds, Cung Le is not exactly a giant among men - although he’s pretty big for a Vietnamese guy. But trust me when I tell you this, you don’t want to be on the receiving end of anything he’s throwing your way.

Cung is one of the world’s greatest fighters. Bar none. I don’t care if we’re talking about boxing, MMA, Jiu Jitsu, or anything else. Pound for pound I’m not sure there is another man that can stand toe to toe with him in a ring for any amount of time. And his nearly perfect record pretty much underscores that point.

MXCI kid you not when I tell you that MXC is one of my favorite TV shows of ALL TIME! Unfortunatly this show is not running on cable any more, but luckily I was able to feed my MXC addiction on the Internet. Thank you YouTube!

Most Extreme Elimination, later called MXC was a redubbing of the Japanese game show Takeshi’s Castle, which aired from 1986 to 1989. Absolutely the best part of this show was the new english dubbing which was full of insults, bathroom humor, and innuendo. There has never been anything like it, and never will be again, so you just have to watch an episode in order to understand what I’m talking about.

Synesthesia - A Study in Human Movement

Woman AcrobatJuggling, acrobatics, dancing, swimming, hula hoops… this video has got it all! And according to the creator:

This is my Honours project edited down to a watchable length - it’s an examination of rhythm and human movement.

In a way it reminds me of the Swim Bodies video, except that this one substitutes fun for creepy.

Human Weapon Kicks Ass!

Human WeaponMy favorite two things to watch on TV are Human Weapon, staring Bill Duff and Jason Chambers, and Ultimate Fighting Championship. Human Weapon is a show where Jason and Bill travel around the world studying all of the various martial arts for a week at a time, and then create a one hour documentary covering the history, techniques and science behind the various styles.

Bill Duff and Jason ChambersBill is a former pro football player and wrestler, and Jason is a former Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses. Bill for example is huge. At 6′4″ and 280 lbs when he travels around he’s normally the biggest human in the building. It’s especially challenging for the Asian countries to match his size. However, he’s not as quick as a smaller fighter. Jason is very fast, and technically more proficient. At 170lbs and 5′11″ he’s very close to my size. (After the Marines I weighted in at 176 and 6′.)

Jason and Bill have traveled all over the world and studied everything from Muay Thai to Pankration, to Silat - plus about 13 other styles that you may or may not have ever heard of. The show is just plain bad ass, and luckily you can watch a lot of the clips over on the History Channel site.

9 Year Old’s Unbelievable Hockey Goal

9 Year Old’s Amazing Hockey ShotSeriously, you gotta see this (about 5 times) to believe it. I’m not sure I’ve ever even seen a professional make a goal this awesome, but I know for sure I’ve never seen a kid do anything this cool.

9 year old Max Gerlach was competing during the intermission at a Dallas Stars hockey game when he pulled off this incredible shot. It was so great it made the ESPN highlights as the second best shot of the day (yeah, including the actual pro games)!

Stephen Colbert is Gonna LOVE this Kid!

Davy Crockett’s Great Grandson Kills a BearHey, did you hear about the 5 year old kid who killed a 400 pound bear? Well, now you have… and oh yeah, he’s a descendant of Davy Crockett. Figures.

DEWITT, Ark. — A 5-year-old Arkansas County boy killed a black bear Sunday weighing more than 400 pounds.

Tre Merritt, a descendant of Davy Crockett, was hunting with his grandfather Mike Merritt when a black bear happened upon their stand.

“His 10th great-grandfather was Davy Crockett,” Mike Merritt said. “And Davy supposedly killed him a bear when he was three. And Tre is five and really killed a bear. I really doubt if Davy killed one when he was three.”

The Greatest Trick Plays in Football

Football Trick PlaysI had someone send me a clip of a trick play, and as often seems to happen, I got so interested in it that I wanted to see more! Well, you guys know how that works. I figured that if I was already watching all these videos I might as well catalog them to share, and to save anyone else wanting to see a list like this some time.

So, all of you wannabe football players out there - listen up! You better study these plays because you either need to use them against your bitter rivals, or ensure that they don’t use them against you!
