Watch Pandas Live on the Smithsonian’s Panda-Cam!

Panda and BabyI was watching a show on PBS tonight and it was all about the massive Smithsonian Zoo. This is the national Zoo for the US, and they take care of hundreds of species of animals – many of which are endangered and near extinction.

During the show they got to talking about pandas and they mentioned that you can watch the pandas live on the Panda Cam any time you feel like it! They have about 40 different cameras all over the panda habitat, so I figured I would share this little tidbit with you guys.

Those Crazy Fainting Goats

Fainting GoatsThere is a specific breed of goat that “faints” whenever it gets startled. It is a breed of domestic goat whose external muscles freeze for roughly 10 seconds when the goat is startled.

Though painless, this generally results in the animal collapsing on its side with the side effect of everyone around laughing their asses off.
The characteristic is caused by a hereditary genetic disorder called myotonia congenita. Older goats sometimes learn to lean against something to prevent their falling over, and often they continue to run about in an awkward, stiff-legged shuffle.
