This is an amazing video of a piece of collaborative art being created by four artists painting on one digital canvas simultaneously.

The painting process was unplanned and free form. The artists took cues from each others actions and interpretation of various shapes/colors. Communication was made possible by text chat. The total elapsed time was 4 hours.

The very beginning of the video is random, but you can see how they begin to come together after a bit.

Juan Francisco Casas Amazing Bic Pen Art

Nude Woman KissingWhen I first encountered Juan Francisco Casas’ art I was stunned. Sure, there are a lot of artists out there that can draw lifelike figures. But how many of them work with nothing but a blue Bic pen? And draw photographs up to 10 feet tall? As far as I know – exactly one.

Here is what the Daily Mail had to say:

They may look like pin-sharp photographs – but these amazing pictures are actually drawings created with the humble ballpoint pen.

The stunning pictures, measuring up to 10ft high, were drawn by a rising star of the art world, Juan Francisco Casas.

Casas, 31, can use up to four 14p ballpoint pens for a canvas and his works are already a sell-out at exhibitions.

Formerly a traditional painter, Juan began the drawings three years ago based on photographs of nights out with his friends.

The Commanding Personality of Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali - Flower MustacheA flamboyant painter and sometime writer, sculptor and experimental film-maker, Salvador Dali was probably the greatest Surrealist artist, using bizarre dream imagery to create unforgettable and unmistakable landscapes of his inner world.

Dalí was born on May 11, 1904, in Figueres, Spain close to the French border. In 1916, Dali discovered modern painting on a summer vacation to Cadaques with the family of Ramon Pichot, a local artist who made regular trips to Paris. The next year, Dali’s father organized an exhibition of his charcoal drawings in their family home. He had his first public exhibition at the Municipal Theater in Figueres in 1919.

Jorge Castillo, The Typewriter Artist

Castillo The Typewriter ArtistNow I’ve seen a lot of artists using wild methods of manufacture like Denny Dent, Banksy, Chainsaw Jack and more. But I’ve never seen this before!

Jorge Castillo (hope I spelled that right) uses an old fashioned typewriter to “draw” incredible pictures. Basically there is no better way to describe it, so you just have to watch this to see how he does it.

Denny Dent’s Incredible Performance Painting

Denny DentDenny Dent was an amazing and unique artist. Word’s don’t do him justice, but here is a little excerpt from his Web site followed by a video which will instantly let you know why his work was so unique.

Denny Dent has been described as the world’s only “rock and roll painter”. The painting was secondary to Denny. The message was most important. His message was to stir creativity in people.

His repertoire featured renderings of John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, Mick Jagger, Billy Joel, Frank Sinatra, and Tina Turner, to name a few.

With three brushes in each hand, Denny paints portraits on six foot canvasses in the time it takes to play a few carefully selected pieces of music. Whether painting Jimi Hendrix, General Colin Powell, Jack Niklaus or Martin Luther King, Jr.

The artist himself refers to his work as “a passionate dance on canvas,” and those who have seen his creations are compelled to agree.

Political Art of Banksy the Graffiti Guerrilla

Banksy Flower ChuckerHi kids. Today’s art lesson comes in the form of England’s most popular and well known graffiti artist. How popular is he? Well, two men were actually convicted in a UK court for defacing one of his works. That’s right. He tagged a building, they covered it up, and they went to jail!

Banksy is no street thug. He is a serious artist that happens to have an addiction to spray painting his art in public places. His art features striking and humorous images occasionally combined with slogans. The message is usually anti-war, anti-capitalist, anti-establishment or pro-freedom.

Salvador Dali

At the age of 6 I wanted to be a cook.
At 7 I wanted to be Napoleon.
And my ambition has been growing steadily ever since.
