I’m not sure about you, but I had some preconceived notions about American political parties tendencies to go to war. Interestingly, they turned out to be completely wrong.
Here is a historical recounting of all US wars, how many lives were lost in each, and the responsible ruling party at the time.
This is not to say that the US necessarily initiated the conflicts, but these parties were in power at the time the decision was made to go to war, so it still demonstrates willingness to fight.

First, the disclaimer. I am not a member of any political party. When it comes to voting candidates must earn my vote based upon the issues I actually care about.
Now, moving on… There is a very amusing little video working it’s way around the Internet in which a man offers $100 if anyone can name all of the Republicans who are “under criminal investigation or already convicted” in just one breath.
This is a fantastic piece of marketing, although in my opinion it’s almost completely without merit. The video is 59 seconds long, and only 15 names are read, but it leaves you with the general impression that all Republicans are, well… criminals. Here, see for yourself:

Even though most people probably don’t keep up with politics on a daily basis, there always seems to be a cram session before each election in which people do a little reading and try to figure out who they want in office during the coming election.
As a result, I’ve compiled a list of sites designed to help brush up on political opinions. Personally, I’m not into discussing politics, but I will advise one simple thing. Rather than associating yourself with a party and voting along those lines, how about you actually do a little work and evaluate each candidate you consider voting for? After all, responsibility is the price of democracy.
If more people did their homework perhaps some of the politicians that have caused major scandal lately wouldn’t have had the opportunity to rule us (Foley anyone?).
