This past weekend I had the extreme pleasure of hosting the WordCamp Dallas event. I got to see a lot of people I met last year, as well as plenty of new faces. And it was a wonderful experience! Unfortunately, this weekend was also marred by a silent struggle in our family as we were forced to watch one of our two beloved dogs suffer the agony associated with the end of a prolonged battle with kidney failure.
Sandy was a Greyhound mix who we adopted more than ten years ago. My wife and I were walking through the mall on a Saturday afternoon, and the SPCA had a small booth with a few dogs who needed a home. When I spotted Sandy laying on the floor I thought she was an absolutely beautiful dog. I walked over and knelt down to pet her, and when she saw me she stood up, stepped toward me and put her head right up to my chest as if she knew and trusted me all her life.

I don’t know how many of you are “dog people”, but I sure am.
I’ve got two special little girls, one of whom is a Greyhound mix. When I go to work I leave them to roam around the house all day, and sometimes I wonder what they do.
Well, this video pretty much clears up that question. All I can say is, it’s nice to be a dog.

This morning I was hanging out with my little girls in the back yard and snapped a few pics. Some are so cute, I just had to share…
PS – If you select any photo it will take you to a medium-sized one, and then if you want more detail you can select that one to see a large one.
Oh, and here is my brother Kirk’s dog, and my brother in law Jason’s dogs (well, they aren’t all there…).

I’m in Houston at the moment, so I thought I’d post this little clip of my two dogs Lexi and Sandy that I took hanging out in the kitchen in case I ever want to check it out again while I’m on the road.
Lexi is the German Shepard who keeps wandering back and forth. Even though it looks like she’s excited about the camera, she is really just looking for a light or a reflection or a laser or something to come out of it. She loves to chase things around!
Sandy on the other hand is the lazy Greyhound laying on the floor. Of course, we love them both and they are the greatest canine companions ever.

I’m a dog lover. I’ve got two fantastic little girls myself (that’s them in the photo), Sandy and Lexi. And although we love them like they were our own children, they’ve certainly never done anything to garner the type of attention that the dogs in the following videos have.
We’ve got everything from a dog that walks on two legs, to one that rides a skateboard… a dog that dances like John Travolta, and one that attacks on command. Take a look at these animals and you’ll have to admit they are even more talented than most children!

Ok, this is something I never thought I would see. As far as inspiration is concerned, it’s right up there with the Father and Son Team Hoyt, only this time it’s man’s best friend that proves anything is truly possible.
Daryn Kagan brings you the inspiring story of Faith, a 2-legged dog who walks upright on her back legs and shows the world you don’t have to be complete to be complete.

This is possibly my shortest post ever. If you want to take your pet with you on vacation you can find dog and cat friendly hotels at BringFido.com. That is all.
