Lynn's Eyes

For those of you who haven’t figured it out yet, I’m at Photoshop World in Las Vegas this week learning as much as I possibly can. On Tuesday I was in an all day seminar, put on by Canon and taught by Eddie Tapp and Jack Reznicki, in which we studied lighting and composition theory, actually had a photo shoot with real models, and then came back to the classroom for editing and retouching instruction.

Being completely new to portrait photography, this was a day of firsts for me. I had never worked with remote strobes before (fixed lights that act like flashes which are triggered wirelessly), I had never worked with a professional model, and I had never edited a portrait in photoshop.

The Magic of Photoshop, Photography and SUPERMODELS!

Photoshop-for-PhotographersI’ve been an avid amateur photographer for many years, but I’ve never been a big fan of Photoshop. It is a big, expensive, slow program with a steep learning curve. But I’ve gotten to the point where my photos just don’t have much room for improvement without digital manipulation. So, I finally broke down and decided to study Photoshop.

It began with signing up for a college course called “Photoshop for Photographers”, though my travel has kept me out of class for a couple of weeks. So I’ve been studying my book, The Adobe Photoshop CS4 Book for Digital Photographers, and practicing with my new Adobe CS4 Suite.

Well, I’ve been posting some Photoshopped images recently of my travels, however I thought I would demonstrate the power of the tool by sharing a couple of photos that I took of people, to illustrate the difference it can make…

John P., Supermodel!

Crazy John P.Has anyone noticed that although I’ve been online since almost the beginning of the Web, there are almost no photos of me, anywhere? Go ahead, search. I’ll wait…

The reason for this is simple. No photographer has been brave enough to put me in front of a camera! Why, well… first of all, I’m not a good looking man. Second of all, I’m unpredictable!
