This is the intro to the original 1971 version of the movie Shaft. I needed to post this because I’m always quoting the famous line from the song, “He’s One Bad Mutha… Shut yo Mouth! What? I’m Talkin’ bout Shaft!” but a bunch of people have no idea what I’m talkin bout Willis!
So here you go. I’m talking bout Shaft! You’ll here the line at the 3:48 mark in this video.

Here is a special little treat. Someone has broken like 47 laws and uploaded almost the complete movie The Adventures of Ford Fairlane starring Andrew Dice Clay. Now, for those of you who recall, whenever I post something like this it seems like YouTube is watching my site, so I would expect these pieces to disappear very quickly after I post them. But if you manage to be around and want to watch a fun movie, have at it!
By the way, even if you don’t particularly like Andrew Dice Clay as a comedian, this is still a very entertaining movie. Even my wife enjoys it. It’s got a 4.5 star rating on Amazon, and here it is on IMDB. I will say that it is not appropriate for kids though. Lots of racy scenes, but all in all an excellent comedy / action flick.

Ok. Since everyone and their dog has been abusing the word “inconceivable” since I used it the other day, we’re going to round out our Princess Bride movie quotes with this last one before I start moving on to other movies!
The background story is that Vincent, a Sicilian who is employed to start a war by kidnapping a princess, tends to overuse the word inconceivable. So, here’s a little compilation of the phrase throughout the movie. Frankly it is inconceivable to me that anyone took the time to put this together!

Ok. As a follow up to my last movie quote post, which was also my first… which was also from The Princess Bride… here is another one that you are likely to hear me rattling off at any given time. Especially if I have a sword. And I’m about to kill you.
HELLO! My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die!

I don’t know if you are like me… but I love to quote movie lines! I quote them all the time, but the problem is, there are some people who just haven’t seen them all. So, I’m going to start digging up the ones I say all the time and adding them to my blog so that those of you who know and love me can at least get in on the action.
This first movie quote comes from The Princess Bride. One of the greatest movies ever made! The very opening of the movie includes a discussion about a very, very important phrase that is a recurring theme of the film, “…as you wish.” If you didn’t fully understand the significance of this phrase, this little clip will clear it up for you.

Dear Lord. Let Christmas 2009 come early this year so that I can watch the new Star Trek movie (Even the Web site rocks!!!!!). It looks like it is going to be the best Star Trek I’ve ever seen. And believe me… being the huge geek that I am, I’ve seen them ALL.
I just can’t even believe how AWESOME this movie looks like it is going to be! I mean, it’s my favorite movie of all time already and I’ve only see the Trailers! This is bad… because if they are setting me up for a huge disappointment I’m going to have to go Klingon on some people’s asses!!!!
Check it! We’ve got the young bad ass versions of Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Chekov, Scotty… you name it! They’re all bad to the bone! I’m absolutely giddy.

The other day at the AMC Best Movie Showcase, the final movie of the night was Frost/Nixon. I had actually thought about leaving the theatre and skipping this movie, but was glad that I made the decision to stick it out and watch.
Frost/Nixon is “A dramatic retelling of the post-Watergate television interviews between British talk-show host David Frost and former president Richard Nixon.” This is the most famous of all of the Nixon interviews and ultimately the one that really sank him. Primarily due to the fact that Nixon answered one of Frost’s question:
When the President does it, that means it is not illegal.
I thought the movie was fantastic. It could have been extremely boring and dry, but they managed to essentially show how difficult it was for this particular interview to actually happen, and how close it was of a disaster to Frost and his team. Essentially, the entire filming was saved during the final interview with Nixon.

This brilliant clip is from Johnny Dangerously starring Michael Keaton. Johnny shows his brother a film on testicle safety designed to scare him away from dropping out of law school so he can marry his girlfriend just so he can have sex with her.
This is one of those movies that was highly underrated and from which you get a whole slew of classic quotes!
Danny Vermin: You shouldn’t grab me, Johnny. My mother grabbed me once… ONCE!
Roman Moroni: Why you miserable cork-soaker!
Johnny Dangerously: You got those. I like those on a woman.
D.A. Burr: Don’t worry. It’ll still be here when you get back!
Roman Moroni: You fargin sneaky bastage. I’m gonna take your dwork. I’m gonna nail it to the wall. I’m gonna crush your boils in a meat grinder. I’m gonna cut off your arms. I’m gonna shove ‘em up your icehole. Dirty son-a-ma-batches. My own club!
Roman Moroni: This is fargin war!
Jocko Dundee: Take it easy? I’m standing here with my dork in my hand!

Ok, after sitting through Slumdog Millionaire during the AMC Best Movie Showcase I can honestly say that I think it was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. This movie has a fantastic plot, excellent acting, action, romance… in short, it’s an instant classic.
I’m not the only one who thinks this. According to IMDB, this movie has an 8.7 out of 10 with 66,922 votes. That currently ranks this move as #34 in the Top 250.
Now, considering that this is the only one of the 5 movies that is really uplifting and inspiring, I’m going to say that it’s most likely going to be my pick for Best Picture. Frankly, I think everyone should see this movie!

Movie day continues at the AMC Best Movie Showcase! We just finished watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Unlike The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. Unlike Milk, this movie is going to take some processing before I can actually tell you what it was about. But one thing I can say is that it was a fantastic movie and appropriate for just about everyone (though I’d keep the young kids away for some adult themes).
The story centers around a man who was born with a strange affliction, possibly related to some sort of supernatural intervention, but never really explained. This affliction caused him to be born and essentially grow into an old man’s body, from which point he continues to get younger and younger.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a love story that weaves together the lives of several different characters in a way seemingly designed to show us there is a time and a place for everything, while simultaneously reminding us that it’s never too late to be the person you were born to be.

Milk has been nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture this year, and I just watched it at the AMC Best Picture Showcase this morning. Sean Penn gave an absolutely amazing performance as gay activist Harvey Milk, but he was surrounded by a number of other fantastic personalities as well and ultimately the combination was definitely worth the Best Picture nomination.
Now here’s the scoop. If you are a fundamentalist who is so opposed to any lifestyle other than your basic religion, don’t even bother trying to see this movie. You are going to see men kissing within the first 5 minutes and then you’ll have to get up and walk out. It’s just not even worth wasting your time.
However, if you consider yourself even partially open minded (you’re not gay, you don’t like it, but you’ll at least tolerate people) then this film is absolutely worth seeing.

That’s right, I’ve got one extra ticket, so if you are in Dallas, or going to be in Dallas, on this coming Saturday, Feb. 21, then all you need to do is drop a comment below and let me know that you’d like to join us. But here is the deal… since there is only ONE ticket… we’re going to run a little contest. Read on to find out what.
