Get Your Own Parking Meter

Parking MeterThere is cool… and then there is awesome! This falls into the latter category.

Northern Tool just announced that they are selling parking meters for $200.

Man, I can think of all sorts of devious things to do with one of these, but even if I weren’t going to wreak havoc on public streets, it would be way cool to have one of these in your garage.

I received the following request from a reader:

Since you’re The Man… Kindly grace us with your Top 5 Consumer Electronic “Must Haves” in the $600 to $1,000 range?

I’ll do you one better! Here are a bunch of my top “must haves” in a variety of price ranges. Not all of these are totally “electronic”, but all of them would definitely fit the description of gadgets. Anyway, here we go:

Remote Controlled Heli-fun!

R/C HelicopterRemote control cars and planes are cool, but there is nothing like being able to fly a remote control helicopter around inside your house.

Of course, if you’re going to do that, you’ll need one of these special new RC units with the dual rotors and built in fuzzy logic chip. This sucker will buy you plenty of hours of fun chasing pets or people throughout your house and property.

SERIOUSLY Portable Jacuzzi!

Dutch TubOk. Despite the fact that this thing is so outrageously overpriced that the builders must have a perpetual crack high (it’s $6,000!), this is truly the coolest hot tub I’ve ever seen.

In addition to the ultra-cool design, the fact that this thing burns wood, and the fact that this tub only weighs about 165lbs… the company that builds it has some of the greatest marketing you could ever imagine. Visit DutchTub.com and then go to the Gallery and look at all the photos.

The Conceal(ed) Book Shelf

Concealed Book ShelfNot a lot I can say about this inventive little product other than the fact that it is really, really cool. And the fact that you can pick these up at any Container Store for $7.50 doesn’t suck either!

Basically one large book “hooks” into the wall mounted bracket and you then stack other books on top of it.

I imagine that this would look quite impressive, assuming you had enough wall space to put a few of these across it with some really nice books. People would probably think that you must be well educated and cultured, even if you just use trained monkeys (like me) to do your readin and writin for you.

ICE Cold Glasses

Shot in an Ice GlassDown here in Texas it’s hot. I mean really hot. It’s so hot we actually have a race called the HotterN Hell Hundred. It can actually be 100 degrees at midnight. Needless to say, we like our Air Conditioning, and we love our drinks over ice!

Well, I’ve got to ask. Why bother pouring a drink over ice, when you can just pour a drink into ice? That’s exactly what this special Ice Cube tray will allow you to do.

“The Ex” Knife Block

The Ex Knife BlockThis is an absolute must have for any kitchen! Talk about a conversation starter (or ender if you’re on a first date).

The block comes complete with a set of cheap knives to fill in the wounds, and there are plastic sleeves protruding from the back to prevent anyone that happens to be groping it from losing a finger.

The Ex is available from Stupidiodic.com for about $100.

Emergency Crank Radio

Emergency RadioMost people are notorious procrastinators when it comes to emergency preparedness. This is why you can go to any grocery or hardware store to witness a complete panic in action the day before a major storm hits… or the day after a terrorist attack.

Well, among the things you might need, a small emergency radio should be near the top. Let’s face it, information is crucial to decision making during an emergency.

My Camera Setup

CIMG3209.jpg
I’m often asked what kind of camera I use / recommend. So, here are the full details.

Personally I have two digital cameras. One for portability, one for high quality. Don’t get me wrong, my portable still takes great shots, but they aren’t up to the level of my “big” camera.
