LEAKED: The New Roboform for Android Application

For those of you who’ve read my article on How I’d Hack Your Passwords, you eventually got to the part where I recommend using a password manager to organize and protect your passwords so you don’t use weak ones everywhere.

Well, for years I’ve been recommending Roboform and even put together a Roboform Tutorial for their great desktop version for Windows and even Mac. Their iPhone app is also in wide circulation, and I think they had a really basic Android app out previously, but for Android users (like me) I’ve got a world exclusive first screenshot of the soon to be released app.

A First Hand Account of the Egyptian Revolution

Cairo Egypt - Tahrir Square

Cairo Egypt - Tahrir Square

If you’re like me, you don’t really know much about what is going on in Egypt. There has been a lot of news, but in the US it has also been somewhat overshadowed by the major storm that has been ravaging much of the country. Here in Dallas the city has been shut down for a couple of days and we’re suffering from rolling power outages which serve to shut down access to TV and the Internet.

However, today I received an email from Ossama Hassanein, Chairman of the Board for TechWadi – an organization that supports entrepreneurship in the middle east. Ossama was passing along the following letter from his daughter, which recounts her first hand experiences of what has transpired over the past week. I found the message eye-opening and it helped me gain an understanding of what has been going on.

Leaking Naked Photos, Crotch Grabbing, and Other TSA Hobbies

TSA Full Body Scanner

TSA Full Body Scanner

If you’re an experienced traveler, you may have noticed by now that the TSA has installed the full body scanners in basically every airport in the US. It was over three years ago when I reported that “The TSA is Going to Photograph You Naked!!!“, and the mandatory scanning has now gone into effect.

“We Don’t Save The Photos.” Really?!?

Despite promises that these full body scanning systems will not save naked photos of you, recently it was discovered that 35,000 photos of naked citizens were being stored by the U.S. Marshal’s Service (another Federal agency) and over 100 of those photos were leaked.

The Life and Suicide of Bill Zeller

Bill Zeller was a PhD Candidate at the Center for Information Technology Policy, which is part of Princeton University‘s Computer Science program. Last Sunday he took his own life and left a detailed suicide note explaining his rationale. If you’d like to learn a little more about Bill, you can visit his personal site (for as long as it remains up), read his Twitter stream, and see his Flickr gallery.

Although the outward signs of Zeller’s life might seem normal enough, he was apparently battling a raging fire of torment inside caused by sexual abuse as a child. Something he shared with no one until his death. It goes to show you how terrible that kind of abuse can be, and what should be done to the perpetrators.

It also raises the questions about the morality of suicide. As Bill puts it:

“People say suicide is selfish. I think it’s selfish to ask people to continue living painful and miserable lives, just so you possibly won’t feel sad for a week or two. Suicide may be a permanent solution to a temporary problem, but it’s also a permanent solution to a ~23 year-old problem that grows more intense and overwhelming every day.”

Personally, I believe that people should be able to not only determine how they want to live their life, but also how they want to end it. It reminds me of the story of the elderly British couple who committed suicide together.

And now, the final message from Bill Zeller (set aside some time, its over 4,000 words):

Sarah Palin Wants Her WikiLeaked Secrets Just Like the Rest of Us!

On November 29, 2010 after Julian Assange posted some leaked sensitive documentation on WikiLeaks, Sarah Palin ripped him a new one – equating him to a terrorist and questioning why the US Government didn’t hunt him down like a dog.

Here is a quote taken directly from her Facebook page:

Assange is not a “journalist,” any more than the “editor” of al Qaeda’s new English-language magazine Inspire is a “journalist.” He is an anti-American operative with blood on his hands. His past posting of classified documents revealed the identity of more than 100 Afghan sources to the Taliban. Why was he not pursued with the same urgency we pursue al Qaeda and Taliban leaders?

Liquid Glass – Coming to a Store Shelf Soon?

How Liquid Glass Works

How Liquid Glass Works

A company is Germany has developed what they claim to be one of the most innovative, world-changing, technologies of all time. “Liquid Glass” is a product that supposedly can be applied to almost anything, and which coats the surface with a 100 nanometer thick layer of flexible, breathable, glass. Oh, and its completely harmless and even safe to use around food.

Coffee Cup Treated with Liquid Glass

Coffee Cup Treated with Liquid Glass

Think about this for a minute. You know how easy it is to clean a window? Now imagine your carpet was that easy to clean! You could spray this stuff on everything from shower walls, to car parts, to coffee cups, shoes and kitchen knives. How about lining the concrete surface of a swimming pool with it before filling it with water?

Since they claim the coating is heat resistant to 450 degrees Celsius (842 degrees Fahrenheit), you could actually coat your grill with it, or the engine of your car, to keep them shiny and clean since they are exposed outdoors. I guess you could also treat most cookware since they rarely get used above that temperature.

The Chinese Can Build 15-Story Hotel in Six days! Why Can’t We?

A construction crew in the south-central Chinese city of Changsha completed a 15-story hotel in just six days! Holy crap! When you take a look at the amazing pace, organization and precision of the work it makes you think that the US absolutely SUCKS at construction!

And by the way, the Chinese aren’t putting up crappy buildings that you wouldn’t want to be caught dead in! Just take a look at the amazing buildings Trey Ratcliff captured on his recent trip to China over on StuckInCustoms.com.

Anyway, here is the description from Yahoo News on this new building:

The work crew erected the hotel — a soundproofed, thermal-insulated structure reportedly built to withstand a magnitude 9 earthquake — with all prefabricated materials. In other words, a crew of off-site factory workers built the sections, and their on-site counterparts arranged them on the foundation for the Ark project.

Despite the frenetic pace of construction, no workers were injured — and thanks to the prefab nature of the process, the builders wasted very few construction materials. Below is a time-lapse video that shows the hotel being built from the ground up in less than a week:

Yes, I Sued Neal Campbell for Libel and Defamation

Neal in Long BeachIts a sad day, but one that was destined to come – not because of what I’ve done, but because Neal Campbell has been defaming me for nearly a year and there are no signs that he’s ever going to let up. What makes the story more sad is that Neal is someone I used to consider a friend.

What happened? Neal’s wife, Cali Lewis, decided to leave him. And when she did, my wife and I eventually took her side. And as far as Neal is concerned, that is reason to “rebuke you in the name of Jesus”. Yep. He did that to at least three or four people I know of as soon as they questioned what he was telling them about the whole mess.
