Sony Bravia Paint Commercial

Sony Bravia CommercialSony created an absolutely visually stunning commercial to feature their Bravia flat panel technology which involves tons of colored explosions painting a building and the surrounding scene. Even in this tiny little screen it is really cool, but I can only imagine how it would look on a big TV in high definition.

By the way, if you haven’t seen the Sony Bravia Play Doh Rabbits Commercial, make sure and watch it too…

The only shame is that Sony isn’t still running the Web site that is mentioned at the end of the video. That is unbelievable, because clearly these viral videos are still doing their jobs, but they are no longer able to track the effects. Pity. Enjoy!

September Contest Winner

Contest EntriesOK. Who loves ya baby! Damn right, I do! I spent about 4 hours just preparing all of the entries for this month’s contest which numbered in the hundreds. Yikes, we’ve got to do something about that for next month!

Anyway, as previously mentioned, you only had to do one of two “no obligation” things in order to be eligible to win the Sony Camcorder. Be an e-mail subscriber to OMB updates, or link to any article from your blog. (Both allow me to at least hunt down the winners.) Well, the results are in, and we have a winner!

OMB’s New Member of the Month Contest!

Sony DCRSR60 CamcorderWell, One Man’s Blog has continued to grow in every category I tend to measure, be it Technorati, Alexa, Feedburner or simply traffic stats. As a result, the advertising that I’ve placed on the site has been generating excess cash beyond what’s required to keep my dedicated servers running, and I’ve decided the best thing to do is give some back!

So, I’m happy to announce the implementation of the OMB Member of the Month Contest! Here is the deal… At the beginning of each month I’m going to announce the OMB Member of the Month winner along with the prize for the upcoming month. You can do either (or both) of the following to qualify:

  1. Subscribe for e-mail updates. This makes sure that I have your e-mail so I can contact you if you win, and it allows my readers that don’t have Web sites to still have a chance at winning.
  2. Create a post with at least one link back to any OMB article during the contest month. Please make sure to leave a trackback on the post you link, or drop me an e-mail, so I can keep track.

To make sure we start out with a bang, the first ever prize is going to be a Sony DCR-SR60 Hard Drive Camcorder with a retail value of $599. Great for video blogging because there is no tape! Record to hard drive, then USB it right into your computer for uploading!

How to Reach a Human When Calling Any Company

Get HumanEveryone has been driven crazy by a poorly staffed call center, sitting behind a horrible Interactive Voice Response Unit (IVRU) while calling a service provider like the phone company, cable company, government office or technical support. Well, help has now arrived.

Paul English, the CTO of Kayak.com, decided to build a site to help people get through to a real human after one such frustrating call. The result is GetHuman.com.

Playstation 3 Review: I’m Not Impressed

Playstation 3While shopping at my local Costco today I happened to come across a PS3 sitting in the case with the cameras, iPods and other electronic goodies. At first I was a little taken aback, but I gathered my senses enough to ask a nearby employee if that was an actual PS3 for sale?

Well, as you can guess by the title of this post, it was, and I bought it. Apparantly it had just been put out a little earlier, and when I got home and opened it I see that it seems to have been previously opened, though its in perfect condition.

Now, I honestly have no use for a game console as I just don’t play them. But I find two things attractive about the PS3. First, it’s a cheap Blue-Ray disc player. Secondly, there is supposed to be a blazingly fast Folding@Home client which you can download and run on the machine when you’re not using it for something else.
