9 Year Old’s Unbelievable Hockey Goal

0

9 Year Old’s Amazing Hockey ShotSeriously, you gotta see this (about 5 times) to believe it. I’m not sure I’ve ever even seen a professional make a goal this awesome, but I know for sure I’ve never seen a kid do anything this cool.

9 year old Max Gerlach was competing during the intermission at a Dallas Stars hockey game when he pulled off this incredible shot. It was so great it made the ESPN highlights as the second best shot of the day (yeah, including the actual pro games)!

Frisco’s Rising Stars – Collaborative Sculpture Project

0

Rising Stars Large StarAs many of you are aware, I am a Direct Metal Sculptor specializing in welded metal art. I have several older pieces on my other blog at JohnsArt.org, but it’s been over a year since I posted anything new there. So, instead of posting everything I do I figured I’ll just selectively share a few things with you guys here on OMB.

Several months ago I was asked to come up with some large freestanding star sculptures which could be used as a collaborative project for the school aged kids in my home town of Frisco, TX. The design requirements were:

Size Comparison of Stars and Planets

0

EarthAs a follow up to my previous post of The Most Important Photo Ever Taken, here is a very interesting video illustrating the relative size of planets in our solar system as well as stars throughout the galaxy.

Keep in mind that the smallest body they show is Mercury and at an average height of 5.5′ it would take over 2.9 million humans standing head to toe just to stretch across that tiny planet.

The largest star illustrated is 753,320 times larger than Mercury. It would take 2.185 TRILLION humans standing head to toe to stretch across the diameter of that star, or 364 times the entire population of Earth.

The Hubble Ultra Deep Field Photograph

0

Video CameraThe author of this video calls the Hubble Ultra Deep Field photo the “single most important picture ever taken by humanity.” And if you really think about it, I guess he’s right.

After watching this video I don’t see how anyone could believe that our planet is the only one supporting a sensient civilization.

Well, with the exception of those people who don’t believe we’ve even built the Hubble or gone to space… I guess if you think the whole thing is a hoax then you can keep on believing the Earth is flat. :-)
