The Ariel Atom is absolutely the most impractical car you’ll ever lust after. It has no trunk, roof, windshield, doors… hell, even the seats are made of plastic. But none of that matters, because it is the third fastest production car on Earth. And it’s cheap.
My favorite quote from Jeremy Clarkson’s road test of the Atom:
Over the years I’ve flown F-15 fighters and done power-slides in airboats and straffed the desert in helicopter gunships, but for sheer excitement this thing is off the scale.

The Wrightspeed X1 Electric Supercar is completely awesome, even if it’s only a prototype and has no chance of ever moving into production.
The good news however is that they are working on plans for a real production car of which they say:
The X1 production car will be better… much better.

This video is awesome! It pitts a little every day driver Fiat against a high performance Ferrari 360 Modena against a Formula 1 race car on a closed track. But to make things fair, the Fiat gets a 1.5 minute head start, and the Ferrari gets a 1 minute start against the Forumla 1 car.
As to what happens next, you’re just going to have to watch the video to find out…

Many of you know that one of my vehicles is an Acura NSX. Have I mentioned lately that I love my car? Yes, every single time I drive it is as great as the first.
Anyway, I came across this excellent compilation video so I decided that I’d share it.

Thanks again to Jimbo for finding this one… The Bugatti Veyron is the most expensive, and fastest, car the world has ever seen.
It has two V8 engines strapped together and turbocharged to produce 1,000 horsepower, and it does 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds. That makes this ultimate supercar as fast as a Formula 1 racecar.
Somehow the fantastic British TV show Top Gear managed to not only get their hands on a Veyron for testing… but convinced Bugatti to allow them to race an airplane from Italy to London!

Ok. Maybe I won’t be plopping down $200k for one of these any time soon, but I must say that I’ve never seen a car magazine test reviewer so enamored with any vehicle. Ever.
Check out the video to see what I mean.

Ex F1 driver Martin Brundle thrashes $5,000,000 worth of supercars on both the race track and around town. Wait till you see how many times he scrapes the front air dam on the Ferrari F40!
Unfortunately he doesn’t go to task on an NSX (like mine) because it only does 170 MPH and this test is only for supercars that will top 200 MPH!
The lineup here consists of a McLaren F1, Ferrari F40, F50, F60, Pagani Zonda S, Bugatti EB110, Jaguar XJ220, TVR T440R, Lamborghini Diablo GT, and Koenigsegg CC8S. Basically we’re talking about supercars that are built only in editions of hundreds, as opposed to a few hundred per year.

Today turned out to be double the journey I had originally planned as I ended up cramming two day’s worth of driving into one. This will have the effect of shortening the overall trip home by one day, but also make for two very long hard back to back days.
But I’m not complaining! I’m driving an NSX across the country and seeing totally cool stuff!

Today began the second leg of my journey from San Francisco back to Dallas. I started in Bakersfield, CA with a destination of Las Vegas. The trip was roughly a five hour journey, not including stops. Incidentally, I’m averaging 24.5 MPG with cruise control mainly set around 77-80 MPH. Not bad for a 170 mile-per-hour supercar.

Today was a long day, but well worth it. I flew from Big “D” to San Francisco to meet the newest member of the family for the first time, my new NSX. Brandee was kind enough to actually pick me up at the San Jose airport and we had a nice ride back to San Francisco together.
After taking care of business, Brandee said her farewells to her baby, and I took possession. Today was the first time I had ever sat, ridden in, or driven an NSX, so read on for my first impressions…

I am pleased to announce that I will soon be picking up my newly acquired 1993 black Acura NSX which I am purchasing from a long time member of the NSX Prime group named Brandee. The car is in San Francisco, but I’ll be meeting Brandee a week from today to pick it up and drive it back to Dallas.
For those of you not intimately familiar with the NSX, don’t worry… most people wouldn’t even be able to tell a Ferrari 308 from a Lamborghini Diablo because all of these cars are handmade in such limited quantities and you rarely see them in person.
So, allow me to take a little time to introduce you to the world’s only Japanese Supercar, the Acura NSX.

Here’s a riddle: What’s cool? If you guessed the 2,000lb. 190 HP Lotus Exige… you’re right! This beast goes 0-60 in 4.7 seconds, corners like a go-cart and still manages 29MPG on the highway with it’s Toyota built engine.
Did I say Toyota? Yes, so pay attention. This means that purchasing an Exige is kind of like getting two cars in one. On one hand you get an official British Lotus supercar (think James Bond). On the other hand, you get your mom’s reliable Toyota.
