I don’t know why some of you were so surprised by my recent post of 20 Old Skool rap videos! All I can think of is that you must not have caught my own personal rendition of Snoop Dogg’s Sensual Seduction.
This video is completely crappy because I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to exporet it from JibJab, but if you want to star in your own video you can head on over there.

At the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, I took some time out to speak with Michael Scherotter about the Layered Technologies grid computing technology.
Grid computing is a system whereby many computers are assembled together to create one large computing system with vast amounts of processor power, RAM, and storage.
For those of you who might recall, this is the exact platform we’ve chosen to deploy Woopra on, and if you watch the video now you’ll know why!

Just wanted to share this little clip I took at Bd’s Mongolian Barbeque in Bethesda Maryland a few weeks ago.
For anyone whose never been to one of these places, the way it works is you get a bowl and you go over to the raw food bar and put whatever kind of meats, veggies, noodles, etc. you want in the bowl. Then you bring it over to the guys at the round grill, and they cook it up for you while you wait.
It’s a fantastic way to eat and be entertained, and you can do it at BD’s in the DC area, or at Fire & Ice in Harvard Square in Boston.

Folks, I was at Dave and Busters in Frisco, Texas and saw these two guys going to town on this dancing video game! I think it was called Dance, Dance, Revolution… but I could be wrong.
Anyway, just check out these two little clips I took with my crappy cell phone video camera. (Hey, they’re better than nothing!) My question is, how much money do you think you have to spend to get this good at dancing on a video game? And the follow up question is, do you think the chicks dig it?

Jacob Santos gave a lecture at WordCamp Dallas on WordPress testing in which he makes a strong argument for destructive testing of WordPress as a means to improvement.
When you think of a project like WordPress that powers millions of blogs, it’s hard to imagine all of the infinite ways that people will test the software and find ways to break it. But Jacob makes a case for automating the testing in order to have consistency and to find bugs much quicker than by simply releasing the code to the real world and watching what happens.

I had the honor and privilege of moderating a power packed panel at WordCamp Dallas comprised of Matt Mullenweg, Mark Ghosh, Liz Strauss and Aaron Brazell on the topic “The Business of Blogging”.
The panelists discussed how businesses of any size might better incorporate blogging and other forms of new media into their marketing and product development plans.

Next in the lineup of WordCamp Dallas speakers is Chris Smith, Lead GravityStream Strategist at Netconcepts, who lectured on Search Engine Optimization for Bloggers.
Chris has five patents pending for his work on local search and presentation technologies, and his specialization centers around natural search optimization.
Incidentally, there are two more WordCamp Videos still to come, so for my regular readers who are not into blogging… it’s almost over and we’ll get back to our regularly scheduled silliness soon!

Liz Strauss is a recognized authority on the topic of building online communities, so it was only fitting that she give a lecture called, “C’mon, Let’s Talk! Building Influence and Interaction with Blogging” at WordCamp Dallas this year.
Her site Successful and Outstanding Bloggers is a must read, so make sure you drive by and learn a thing or 100!
Incidentally, in case I didn’t mention it enough recently. Many thanks to Tom Kraemer, the City of Frisco’s AV Manager who worked tirelessly all weekend to record all of these WordCamp videos.

Day 2 of WordCamp Dallas started out with a live taping of The WordPress Podcast, featuring hosts Charles Stricklin and Jonathan Bailey with guests Mark Jaquith, Mark Ghosh and WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg.
In case I forgot to mention it lately, we want to thank our generous sponsors without whom this event simply wouldn’t have been possible (please spread the link love):
And also to Tom Kraemer, the City of Frisco’s AV Manager who worked tirelessly all weekend to record all of the WordCamp videos.

Among the wonderful presenters we had lined up for WordCamp 2008 in Dallas were Neal Campbell and his wife Cali Lewis, the stars of GeekBrief.TV. They gave some interesting tips on how they use WordPress on their 7 Websites, and they demonstrated how they live stream video using their Nokia cell phone and Qik - the streaming video site.
The thing that I found most captivating was the way that Cali and Neal worked together like a team. You can tell that not only are they comfortable with one another, but they are old pros at putting themselves out there on stage. Very nice flow to their presentation, and something I hope one day to be able to emulate personally.
