Video Review: Brammo Enertia Electric Motorcycle

Brammo Enertia Instrument Cluster

Brammo Enertia Instrument Cluster

You guys know I’m a motor freak, right? I mean, I pretty much love anything that burns gasoline or electricity in order to propel us down the road. Which is why after keeping an eye on the folks at Brammo for some time I finally decided I could wait no longer and I needed to get my hands on one of their fully electric motorcycles!

Brammo is one of the oldest and largest manufacturers of fully electric bikes, which is not to say that they are old or large. Compared to Honda, Harley, Yamaha and the rest of the old school gang Brammo is in its infancy. But unlike all of the big boys, Brammo is currently producing and shipping fully electric motorcycles. And I’m not talking about little toy electric scooters! I’m talking full-on production quality motorcycles.

Photos and Video of the December 21, 2010 Lunar Eclipse

Well folks, last night I reported that a lunar eclipse was going to occur a few hours ahead of time. Hopefully everyone in the North American area was able step outside and observe it for a while. I sat out there for hours and it was magnificent.

I took some photos of the event, though my camera is not really set up for this kind of work, so they aren’t great. But here is a little overview of what I saw. The individual pictures are later in this post.

One Week Till OpenCamp! Here’s a Little Video…

Well, we’re a week away from OpenCamp. Love it or hate it, OpenCamp has definitely impacted my ability to publish to my own blog. I’m looking forward to being done with all of that for a while so I can focus on my own projects again.

That is not to say that I am not finding OpenCamp to be an incredibally rewarding experience! It’s definitely worth every minute spent on it! I’ve made lots of close friends and had amazing experiences already. And I know that OpenCamp will change some people’s lives!

We have a lot of interesting stuff going on, and one of those things is that Dr. Nico Martini’s students from UTD will be attending OpenCamp as a mandatory part of class! So for a little fun Cali and I put this video together for them. Though everyone might get a kick out of it…

Photos and Videos from the 2010 Indianapolis 500

Ok, I’m going to get this out of the way before I tell you all about my trip to the Indianapolis 500, “The greatest spectacle in racing.” Wait. Did I just say that? Well, not really… that is what THEY say, and its the same thing they have all the drivers say, it’s on all their commercials, the announcers say it – it’s generally everywhere when you are near the Indy 500.

Don’t get me wrong, Indy probably is the greatest spectacle in racing! But for God’s sake, who uses the word spectacle? I mean, unless you are trying to describe Grandma’s glasses. I think spectacle is basically the same as monocle. And frankly the word needs to be retired!

So I’ve got some other suggestions for the folks behind the Indy 500:

  • The largest sporting event on the planet!
  • The most amazing race on Earth!
  • The most fun you can have watching cars!

Ok, now that I’ve had my say, let me tell you all about the Indy 500!

Indy 500 Day 2 – Learning My Way Around

Well, today I actually arrived in Indianapolis and consequently the Indy Motor Speedway. I met up with Jana, my friend at Indy who invited me, and she gave me the tour of the place.

The first thing you think when you arrive is, “Oh my God. I’ll be lost forever.” Seriously, the track is 2.5 miles long, and the entire complex is just massive. But after you spend a little time there you can pretty quickly figure out where everything is. Of course, I think that getting the VIP treatment helped speed up my learning curve… but the bottom line is that tomorrow when things get started I’ll be able to find my way around just fine.

VIDEO: Watching 1,000,000 Page Views A Day on Woopra

Yes, there are actually people who get at least 1,000,000 page views per day on their Websites. And yes, some of them use Woopra for monitoring and analyzing all of this traffic.

Considering that we don’t often (if ever) get to glance at this level of traffic on our own sites, I thought I’d share a tiny sneak peak of what it’s like to watch live as a site is experiencing this level of traffic. Enjoy!

Geoff Smith Performs Bohemian Rhapsody Live

The Geoff Smith put on a live concert from Cali Lewis and Neal Campbell’s house in December 2009. I was there, and I captured this live performance of Bohemian Rhapsody.

The video was shot on a Canon 5D Mark II with a 15mm fisheye lens. I was sitting directly in front of Geoff, with the camera less than 3 feet from his head. Audio is straight off the camera, so it’s merely “acceptable”.
