The Knight Rider Building Lights Up The Night

0

Knight-Rider-BuildingI don’t have a lot of information on this video’s background except that I believe the building in question is located in Poland. Of course, there is some speculation that the building is in Germany, becasue as everyone knows… Germans love David Hasselhoff!

Having said that, it’s amazing that they could choreograph so many lights to change colors and come on in these complex patterns. It must have cost a fortune just to put it on.

The Reality Behind Reality TV Editing

0

reality-tv-editingThis short video shows you exactly how “reality” TV is only as real as how it’s edited. In other words, you’re seeing the story someone thinks you’ll find most interesting, not necessarily what really happened.

These guys did an interesting little test by shooting hours of fairly boring video, and then show you how it can be used to show completely opposite things depending on how they want to tell the story. Enlightening…

Sharp 42″ 1080p HDTV is $799 at Dell With Free Shipping!

0

sharp-lc42sb45uTwo years ago I paid $2,000 for the predecessor to the Sharp 42″ HDTV that Dell currently has on sale for $799. If you’ve been waiting for a good deal to purchase a new TV for yourself, this is the best deal you’re going to find this season on a kick ass TV.

The Sharp 42″ AQUOS Model: LC42SB45U television features:

  • 1920 x 1080 resolution – Full 1080p!
  • 6.5ms response time
  • 500 nits brightness
  • 178-degree H/V viewing angle
  • 8000:1 dynamic contrast ratio
  • 3 HDMI Inputs

This TV is currently $1,000 on Amazon, and $1,099 at Best Buy.

So, head on over to Dell and pick one up now before they are all gone. Hey Pop! This means you!

EDIT: Just discovered that you can also get it from Costco Online for the same price, but a little more shipping. Might be worth it to have the abiltiy to return it to a local Costco if you’re a member. Plus for Executive members you’d get your 2% back at the end of the year…

The Most Complex Bowl of Ramen Noodles Ever

0

Ramen Noodle Rube Goldberg MachineI know that like 10 billion people eat Ramen noodles every day, but I guarantee no one takes the route of preparing them that these folks took on this Japanese game show.

It was apparently a Rube Goldberg competition and they used everything from bowling balls to marbles and included both flames and water. This machine goes on for about 5 minutes and manages to do nothing more than pour some hot water over a package of noodles.

Awesome.

Best Buy “Bait and Switched” Me

0

Insignia 42" 1080p HDTVSo, today my friend Bruce gave me a call and told me that Best Buy had a 42″ 1080p LCD HDTV on sale for $796.99. In fact, he had just come from our local Best Buy in Frisco, TX where they had 17 of them in stock. He said it looked pretty good, and recommended that I get one.

So, of course, I blew about 30 minutes looking at the Web site and eventually placed an order online for in-store pickup. Before doing so, you have to choose a local store and it checks availability. (Clearly I did this, and placed the order.)

Flash forward to this evening, when I finally get around to heading over to Best Buy to pick it up, and lo and behold – no TV!

1970’s TV Classics – A Walk Down Memory Lane

0

Daisy DukeTom Barr shot me over a a link to a Gong Show video along with a suggestion to look into finding some old 70’s TV shows to share with those of us that were actually around back then, as well as a few of us that were not…

It amazes me how much of the old stuff you can actually find floating around the Intertubes. Who the heck is digitizing all this content? Anyway, I’m not going to complain. Below I’ve got clips from CHiPs, The Dukes of Hazzard, The Gong Show, Knight Rider, The Muppet Show and more. Enjoy!

How the Japanese Really Learn English

0

How the Japanese learn EnglishOk folks… what I’m going to expose you to today can either be considered some of the greatest, or most heinous videos ever created! And yes, they come from our favorite little Pacific island nation, Japan!

Only in Japan could you take something as serious as education and turn it into television shows full of scantily dressed women acting out scenes including diarrhea; and then follow that up with people being beaten for laughing when someone else’s English lessons don’t go so well.

Human Weapon Kicks Ass!

0

Human WeaponMy favorite two things to watch on TV are Human Weapon, staring Bill Duff and Jason Chambers, and Ultimate Fighting Championship. Human Weapon is a show where Jason and Bill travel around the world studying all of the various martial arts for a week at a time, and then create a one hour documentary covering the history, techniques and science behind the various styles.

Bill Duff and Jason ChambersBill is a former pro football player and wrestler, and Jason is a former Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses. Bill for example is huge. At 6′4″ and 280 lbs when he travels around he’s normally the biggest human in the building. It’s especially challenging for the Asian countries to match his size. However, he’s not as quick as a smaller fighter. Jason is very fast, and technically more proficient. At 170lbs and 5′11″ he’s very close to my size. (After the Marines I weighted in at 176 and 6′.)

Jason and Bill have traveled all over the world and studied everything from Muay Thai to Pankration, to Silat – plus about 13 other styles that you may or may not have ever heard of. The show is just plain bad ass, and luckily you can watch a lot of the clips over on the History Channel site.

Balls of Steel’s New Game ‘Urban Sprinting’

0

Urban SprintingThere are a few curse words in this one, but it’s exceedingly amusing anyway! This clip comes from a UK TV show called Balls of Steel.

There is a guy in the UK who’s invented his own game called “Urban Sprinting”. Basically the deal is that he’s got a device that I’m assuming he can turn on which will set off the alarms at retail stores that are designed to catch shoplifters.

Do you see where I’m going with this yet? Yep, he doesn’t steal anything, but he sets off the alarms and then runs to get the security guards to chase him! As far as he’s concerned the game doesn’t end until he’s able to get to a hamburger joint and order a burger.
