WaveYard is the name of a new water based community / playland which, of course, is to be located… in the desert.
Yep. Some geniuses were sitting around, possibly enjoying some hashish, when one said something like “Hey dude. I’ve got an idea… Let’s build the biggest water mega-park the world has ever seen! Oh, and we’ll do it in the desert!”
If constructed, the park would use as much as 100 million gallons of groundwater a year.

What is the point of this video? I don’t know! But I found it mesmerizing nonetheless.
Did you see the movie Minority Report with Tom Cruise? Well, this video reminds me of the scenes where they are looking at the future. Kind of surreal and blurry, although the events are crystal clear.
These women are just kind of floating around in the water striking poses as if they were supermodels. Meanwhile, they water all around is completely black and their skin looks ghostly white. It’s just very, very interesting videography.

Ok. Someone seriously needs to stop everything and explain to me how this works!!!
This person has 5 glasses lined up in increasing sizes and right in front of the camera, without visible trickery, they begin by pouring the liquid from the smallest glass to the next larger size. With each pour to a larger size the glass is always full!
The volumes of the larger glasses are definitely greater, and to prove it they pour all of the liquid from the largest container into all of the smaller containers - filling them all simultaneously!

Ok, I know this post sounds sensational, but its not. It’s literal.
I bought a case of LaCroix flavored sparkling water either at Costco or Kroger, I can’t remember which. All it is, is lightly flavored sparkling water and I thought perhaps it might be a more healthy alternative to all of the Coke I drink.
Well, I was wrong. You see, it’s only an “alternative” if you can actually drink it. But I thought this stuff was disgusting! Instead of just throwing it out, I thought I’d give it to my dogs as a treat. But even that didn’t work! One of my dogs drank a little of it, then stopped. The other one took one little taste and then refused to drink another drop!
I’m not kidding, I can’t even get my dog to drink it! And here is the photographic proof. (Click on the photo to see her actually running away from it!)

Back in June Ben Popken over at The Consumerist pointed out that while reading the New York City 2006 Drinking Water Supply and Quality Report he spotted the following item from the FAQ:
Should I buy bottled water?
You do not need to buy bottled water for health reasons in New York City since our water meets all federal and State health-based drinking water standards. Also, bottled water costs up to 1,000 times more than the City’s drinking water.

I was so amazed at what I’m about to share here that I struggled for some time to come up with the right title. Other titles I considered:
In the end, no title seems worthy of this discovery. And I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if it changed the world.

Ok. It’s the middle of winter, and we’re all sitting around complaining about how cold it is outside. But before you continue your whining, watch this video! This video taken in Fairbanks, Alaska (on the UAF campus) shows a pan of boiling water being thrown into the air in -45 degree weather.
The water evaporates almost instantly, and this has to be one of the coolest things you could possibly do in this kind of weather.

Ok. I’m man enough to admit it. I’ve got no idea how this works…
Select Solar (over in the UK) is selling a desk clock that apparently uses nothing but water to power the digital readout. You fill a couple of tubes with tap water and then it just works for about two months.
If anyone can explain the principles in use here, please do so as the site doesn’t say exactly how this is accomplished.
So, you want to know how to walk on water? Here you go:

A company called Aqua Sciences was recently put on the Time Best Inventions list for it’s portable water extraction systems. These systems can be deployed to areas affected by disaster to ensure adequate clean water supplies.
The 20-foot machine can churn out 600 gallons of water a day without using or producing toxic materials and byproducts. They also have larger units that can pump out 1200 gallons a day.
