WordCamp 2008: Matt Mullenweg’s State of the Word

Matt Mullenweg WordCamp at 2008And now the moment you’ve all been waiting for. I’ve slowly but surely been editing, exporting and uploading the WordCamp 2008 San Francisco videos, and I managed to get Matt Mullenweg’s State of the Word presentation up last night.

The video turned out pretty good (except for one little 30 second spot in the middle when the tape ran out… doah!), and when you watch it below I would highly recommend that you maximize the video to full screen. The quality in full screen view is great on my MacBook Pro, so I’m assuming it’s gonna work for everyone.

Chuck Lewis – The SEO Rapper at WordCamp SanFrancisco

Chuck Lewis - The SEO RapperAs I mentioned previously, I attended WordCamp San Francisco 2008 a week ago, and it’s taken me a few days to transfer the videos from tape into the computer. At this point I’m beginning to do the editing, so I’ll start putting out a string of videos (in no particular order). To get us started we’ve got Chuck Lewis, the SEO Rapper aka Poetic Prophet.

You’ll remember Chuck from my previous post about The Poetic Prophet. He’s very cool, he knows his shizzle about SEO, and he can rap. What more do you want? Ok. How about an a Capella world premier of the WordPress rap, and an interview with Matt Mullenweg!

WordCamp Dallas 2008: Jacob Santos on WordPress Testing

Jacob SantosJacob Santos gave a lecture at WordCamp Dallas on WordPress testing in which he makes a strong argument for destructive testing of WordPress as a means to improvement.

When you think of a project like WordPress that powers millions of blogs, it’s hard to imagine all of the infinite ways that people will test the software and find ways to break it. But Jacob makes a case for automating the testing in order to have consistency and to find bugs much quicker than by simply releasing the code to the real world and watching what happens.

WordCamp Dallas 2008: Cali Lewis and Neal Campbell

Cali and NealAmong the wonderful presenters we had lined up for WordCamp 2008 in Dallas were Neal Campbell and his wife Cali Lewis, the stars of GeekBrief.TV. They gave some interesting tips on how they use WordPress on their 7 Websites, and they demonstrated how they live stream video using their Nokia cell phone and Qik – the streaming video site.

The thing that I found most captivating was the way that Cali and Neal worked together like a team. You can tell that not only are they comfortable with one another, but they are old pros at putting themselves out there on stage. Very nice flow to their presentation, and something I hope one day to be able to emulate personally.
