The Adjustable Aluminum TV/Computer Tray

John P.

November 14, 2006 By John P.

Desk SpecificationsI’ve got to give it up to the designers of this Aluminum tray. Although their English is atrocious, their ingenuity is to be admired. In fact, I think this is one of those “why didn’t anyone think of that before” inventions.

Desk while layingAssuming it works as advertised, the Easy Desk Aluminum offers the ability to be used in several positions ranging from sitting in a chair to laying on a bed. I’m not aware of any other product that can make that claim.

Desk while sittingThe top surface is aprox. 18″ x 10″ and each of the folding leg segments is just under 12″ long. In theory this would mean that in a seated position it should be just under two feet high, so you should be able to use it as a TV tray or work surface while sitting on a sofa.

At $58 this seems like a good value assuming it’s well made. Questions that come to mind for me are:

  • How sturdy is the top surface? None of the photos are detailed enough for me to determine how it’s fabricated. Aluminum is light, and if not reinforced it could flex and bend to a degree that might make it seem flimsy.
  • How well do the push button joints work on the legs? Are they tight when locked in place? Will they flex when you put a little weight on them?

If I ever get my hands on one of these I’ll do a full review, but for now if anyone else orders one please let me know how it turns out. It definitely looks like a promising holiday gift!
