Wow. I wish someone had a video of this… on one hand it would be hillarious. On the other hand, I wonder why a police officer had to resort to using a Taser to separate a little boy from a fight with a girl.
I mean, what the heck? When I was a kid a teacher would just step in and end a fight like this. Now you’ve got a heavily armed police officer standing there and you’re telling me that she couldn’t pull an 80 lb. boy off a girl he was hitting?
They didn’t mention any weapons on the boy, so if that is the case, then that officer needs to be fired for her own safety. If she can’t take an 11 year old she would stand no chance against a grown man.
Here’s the story:
Sixth Grader Tasered At Middle School
5:12 pm EST November 29, 2006
JONESBORO — Officials at Jonesboro Middle School say police tasered an 11-year-old student Wednesday as a last resort. The incident immediately prompted an internal police investigation.
Channel 2 was told the incident began after something happened at lunch to spark a verbal argument between two 6th graders. The verbal argument turned physical and a school resource officer with the Jonesboro Police Department says she had to resort to using a taser.
School officials confirm that an 11-year-old, 6th grade male was tasered by a school resource officer. They say the boy was physically assaulting a female 6th grader and refused to listen to verbal commands to stop. As a last resort the officer tasered the boy twice – once to get the students separated and a second time when the boy tried to attack the girl again.
The male student was taken to juvenile detention – the female was treated by emergency personnel and released to her parents.
Although it was a while ago I do remember when I was around that age there was a kid in my class that was built like a full grown man. This kid was probably close to 6 feet tall and weighed in the neighborhood of 200lbs. He was as timid a kid as I have ever met but if he ever raged out (to the point where this kid apparently did) he would have the potential to kill a much smaller child or possibly injure an adult.
Ok just so everybody nows this was not just some small 80lb little boy he was more like close to 200lb he was a big ol boy and maybe she was wrong for tasing him but think about the fact that after being tased once he went after the girl again so think about that before you judge the officers actions.
What really suprises me is the boy tried to attack the girl again after being tazered twice lol
This week there was a kindergarden nanny who tied a 3 year old to a chair because it wouldn’t sit still. I wonder why they didn’t prescribe it some Ritalin…
I’m happy we don’t have tasers in our society, yet.
If the boy had died after being Tasered, it would have been attributed to ‘Excited Delirium’.
This whole Taser issue is so far from common sense that it makes me shake my head in disgust. The only hope is for The Power of the Internet to shine a light on such stupid behaviour by the police and (hopefully) put an end to it.
If police want to stop being heros and start being Taser Operators, then let’s start paying them minimum wage and stop providing benefits.
I think that it was really stupid of the police officer to tasers a 11-year-old when she could of just step in the middle an broken the up with out using a tasers to solve the problem. if she can’t handle a problem with a ll-year old then how is she going to handle a real problem with a grown man?
