Our friend Adi, better known as Ruby on Rails Guy sent me this frightening video of hate speech coming from the Acting Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Ahmad Bahr. As an example, here is an excerpt:
America will be annihilated, while Islam will remain. The Muslims “will be victorious, if you are believers.” Oh Muslims, I guarantee you that the power of Allah is greater than America, by whom many are blinded today. Some people are blinded by the power of America. We say to them that with the might of Allah, with the might of His Messenger, and with the power of Allah, we are stronger than America and Israel.
Oh Allah, vanquish the Jews and their supporters. Oh Allah, vanquish the Americans and their supporters. Oh Allah, count their numbers, and kill them all, down to the very last one. Oh Allah, show them a day of darkness. Oh Allah, who sent down His Book, the mover of the clouds, who defeated the enemies of the Prophet defeat the Jews and the Americans, and bring us victory over them.
It was never “their house.” There has never been a soverign palestinian state. It was always ruled over by someone else.
that ‘apartied wall’ is really a security fence look how many sucessful suicide bombs there were last year which is a drastic drop from the previous years and it also allowed isreal to get rid of about 30 checkpoints in the west bank but that aside i agree we shouldnt give money to any of these countries (were giving 1.5 bil to egypt and other equally oppresive arab countires (where theres no democracy etc)
The Israelis are taking my tax money to build new homes on stolen land and an apartheid wall on Palestinian land.
We should build homes for Katrina survivors instead.
STOP TAKING MY TAX MONEY, you thieves.
Afghanistan was a successes its Iraq that we screwed up and if he Palestinians used political means they would have a much better chance of successes then killing innocent people
US always nosing in others business..they should stop giving support to Israel…palestinian has nothin to loose, that’s why they can bomb themselves. That wall is just creating more resentments in palestinians..It’s like when US fuc$%^ up Afghanistan give them their back ..what goes around comes around…
Adi, you’re comments about the lack of Muslim sophistication and unity are pretty spot-on, IMHO. It’s the reason (or one of) why Islam never conquered Europe…
…but your comment re: 1 billion people who hate Israel and the US is straight out of the hysteria handbook. I’d argue that the majority of Muslims couldn’t care one or the other about either place, and I’d be right.
Terry, read about the life of the Iranian Shah who ruled from 1941 until 1979 (monarch), mainly read about who gave him power and how corrupt he was… Thats the reason why they got the revolution and the crazy khomeini, they were sick and tired of american and israeli control over iran…
Adi, the USA does not provide any aid to the palestinians, and assuming it does, just for the sake of a discussion, the funds won’t reach all the palestinians, the fatah party will take it and nothing will go to hamas, but that doesnt even happen…
I don’t care about Islamic history, I dont even care about Christian history, just like you, I hate beliefs, and i live in the middle east, in Lebanon specifically, I’m sick to the throat from religions, religions should make peace and yet they are dividing and killing people in the name of god(christians, muslims and jews alike). I have friends who are muslim shiaa, muslim sunni, others who are christian, some are palestinian, others syrian, I don’t blame them for any of the many Lebanese civil wars since i can differentiate the younger generation, from the old corrupt generation. If another war takes place in Lebanon, I will point the finger towards the US government and not the US people, since they are arming the extremist christian and muslim militias with heavy artilleries, whether they (the militias) support the US or not, the US doesn’t care who wins, they just want to keep the region destabilized. They are doing the same in Iraq, I’m not sure if the US media publishes anything about that but it’s a known fact around here, I even watched it on cnn(middle east version), where the iraqi president was arguing against it…
Here’s a nice article I found from google a while ago: http://www.palestinemonitor.org/factsheet/US_Aid_to_Israel.htm
Where do you think the money is going? Is Israel such a poor country?
PS: I have nothing against the Jews, I’ve also lived in montreal, and also had Jewish friends. But I as a human being, I can see how the Israeli government is violating human rights in the middle east and yet the palestinians are the ones being blamed for it…
(all this coming from a lebanese, coming from a country where the majority hate the palestinians because of the civil war that they caused)
As a child, my wife lived in Iran for a little less than a year. It was prior to the revolution but even then there was a very strong anti-American feeling. As a kid riding on a school bus, there would be people running along side the bus banging on the sides yelling at the kids to leave their country. One guy went so far as to drive his car into the bus. The car was too small and flimsy to do damage or cause injury but that didn’t stop him from trying. This was decades before 9/11, the Persian Gulf War, etc. This anti-Western hatred isn’t new, it isn’t the result of Bush’s or Clinton’s policies. It is deeply rooted to the point of having adults try to terrorize little children. I think that even if policies were different their leaders would find another reason demonize us to the masses and stir up hate.
I am not trying to tell you that Christianity is better than Islam nor all muslims are evil.
FYI, the video that you showed to me has nothing to do with our discussion. Also, Peter reply went off the main topic.
To reply to your video, I as arab, I as human, and most americans are not happy to see Palastineans suffering. USA did not stop supporting them, they pay their salaries and almost everything they need.
I understand the point that you and peter want to say. You guys consider what Bush doing or what Martin luther said. Thats not the complete history of the problem. Please read about Islamic emperor, read about it well, and then reply to me.
Furthermore, I do not hate muslims. I hate few beliefs they have. I lived most my life in Islamic country. I have hundreds of muslim friends. I call few of them till now once or more every week. Again, I hate believes.
I suffered numerous number of times in my life as being minority, but i do not hate them. I still liked the place where I was born, I miss it, i did not go their for three years and I can not wait to go their again.
Thanks for replies..

And as for “all of them hate Israel and the USA”, you’re right, even those (muslims) who fought and died in US wars, in the US army, hated Israel and the USA… or,not?
You should seriously sit down one day and analyse where this hate you have towards them comes from, hate is like a virus, it spreads and gets out of control, try to find the source and point specifically at that, don’t generalize…
Now if by this article, you are trying to convince me that Christianity is better than Islam, you have failed, since they both have their strong and ridiculously weak points.
If you are trying to convince me that all Muslims are “evil”, you have also failed, since all I see is an extremist idiot preaching desperate people who are at their weakest point and have given up on everything at this stage. If their country wasn’t so screwed up, they would have had jobs and wouldn’t have had time to even listen to this extremist…
Adi, you may have prayed in many churches, but you haven’t prayed in all of them, and certainly not for the last 1900 years. There are documented examples of Christian churches and leaders condemning Islam and exhorting to its destruction. Jerry Falwell, to cite a recent example.
Keeping in mind that Islam is considered a blasphemous heresy in the eyes of Christianity, even if few religious leaders longer publicly admit it in this day.
Documented for hundreds of years, you say? Absolutely. Have a read of what Martin Luther had to say on Islam.
Please – nobody ever think for a moment that this type of hate-speech only occurs from Muslims.
Well, I am more than sure that what I told you is true.
They are more than 1 billion and all of them hate Israel and the USA, I mean it. What they can do? nothing! Why? Since people ability to do any thing is not by their count, but by their quality.
American Army managed to disable Iraqi army in 6 days in the last war , provided that Iraqi Army consists of more than 1 million soldiers. It is quality, rather than quantity. Corrupted, dis-functional and dishonest societies can not stand in front of country like USA even they are 100000 billion.
Those one billion can not even manage to find their own bread, USA gives it to them FREE for humanitarian reasons.
I doubt that in their religion it specifically mentions to destroy the US and Israel, you have over 1billion human beings following that religion, some live in the US, others in Europe, and some even in Israel. Do you know what would happen if they all hated the US and Israel?

These attitudes, hate speeches and believes did not show up recently or after any war. These are real believes as part of their religion. It is documented and clear from hundreds of years.

I prayed in many protestant, baptist and catholic churches (actually i was raised in catholic church for many years) through all my life and I never felt any thing even similar.
Well, if someone comes in your house, locks you and your family up in one room, and takes over your house, would you pray/wish for their well being? Try looking at it from their point of view. The only “weapon” they have is their religion… I’m not with what he says, but I can understand why he says it.
Catbert,

First of all, I totally agree with you. Although religious people believe these things are true, they would be considered “scare tactics” by everyone else. However, I would like to point out the fact that in every church I’ve ever been in what they are talking about is what happens to your soul after you die.
The people in videos like the one here are talking about expediting your delivery into the afterworld. Pretty sizeable difference if you ask me. ;-)

Go into most fundamental “christian” churches on any given Sunday morning and you may be (or may not be) surprised to hear very similar preaching touting the; destruction of non-believers, end of times, victory over godless souls, etc., etc.
It seems to me that many organized religions (Christianity, Islam, Judaism, to name just a few) have been hijacked by fundamental fringe elements within their ranks. The zealots are quite willing to shout above the masses in order to be heard while reasonable people of faith seem unwilling to publicly, and consistently disassociate themselves from these radicals.
yet time after time, we are told that Islam is a religion of peace, yeah right.
