If you happen to be a Hertz #1 Club Gold member there are elite status levels available which are (ridiculously) achieved by number of actual rentals, as opposed to days of rentals. This is one of the worst rental rewards policies in the entire travel industry because it will reward some travelers who are far less profitable for Hertz than others.
For example, if you rent a car 10 times on overnight trips for a total of 10 rental days you will achieve “5 Star” status, but if you rent a car 7 times for 4 days each for a total of 28 rental days you don’t get jack.
Well, there is a way around this.
If you call the Hertz Gold desk at 405-775-3180 and tell them that you think you should already be at the 5 Star or President’s Circle status based on your aggregate days of rental instead of your number of rentals they will do a quick audit of your account and based on your rental history and profitability to the company they will instantly upgrade you to one of the two elite status levels.
If you rent from Hertz frequently and you tend to keep the vehicle for several days at a time then it’s definitely worth calling in because it’s going to get you free upgrades and free rental days.
Good luck!
It’s a luck of the draw, with a 50/50 chance. Call them again.
Didn’t work. Called and stated exactly what you mentioned, but they didn’t agree!
